In 2005, a plane flew from Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus to Rujin International Airport in Prague, Czech Republic, with flight number ZU-522. The plane lost contact with the ground tower shortly after taking off, but from the radar, the plane has been flying and hovering over Greece.
Because it was only a few years before the 9 1 1 incident in the United States, when the ground tower monitored the flight, it thought that the plane had been hijacked by criminals, so while waiting for the plane to contact the ground tower, two F- 16 fighters were sent to detect the situation.
One fighter flew to the flank of the plane to detect the situation, and the other fighter flew to the tail of the plane. This is a standard attack preparation posture. If the fighter in front detects hijacking, another fighter will attack accordingly, because the plane is hovering over Greece, and once it is hijacked, it is likely to threaten the safety of surrounding cities.
However, the fighter plane responsible for detecting the situation was stunned by the scene in front of him. He found that the whole plane didn't look hijacked, and all the passengers wore oxygen masks and shrugged their heads. Moreover, the captain is not in the position of captain, and the co-pilot is prone on the dashboard.
At that time, the fighter pilots didn't know that the plane was in such a strange situation because of the mistake of a button, which caused the plane not to automatically add oxygen and pressure and needed manual operation, but the captain didn't notice it. Because the plane is flying in the sky, the oxygen inside the plane is thin and the oxygen mask in the cabin falls off. But these masks can only be used for about 12 minutes, and the plane had been flying for more than four hours, so people shrugged.
The captain was not at his post because he mistakenly thought that there was something wrong with the air conditioner, so he went to check the air conditioning system and fell to the ground because of lack of oxygen.
However, there was another person awake on the plane at that time. He was the flight attendant at that time, Andrea Borodai Mo. He found an oxygen bottle on the plane and held out until the end. Moreover, he entered the captain's room and shouted "help, help, help" over the radio. But unfortunately, the radio is still the frequency of departure from the airport, so the Athens air traffic control did not hear its call for help.
Shortly after two F- 16 fighters came forward to detect the situation, the aircraft turned off its engine because of fuel exhaustion and fell downward. Antonia Borodemo, an experienced flight attendant, tried to control the plane, but failed.
When the pilot of F- 16 fighter discovered this situation, he called "SOS, SOS, SOS" into the radio and told the ground plane that it was falling.
Shortly after the call, the plane crashed and broke out, and all the planes were spared.
Then the question is coming. What exactly do Mayday, Mayday and Mayday mean? When the pilot shouts "help, help, help", does it mean that it must be hopeless?
What does Mayday mean?
"mayday" is an international radio call for help, but "mayday" can only be used in very urgent and dangerous situations, such as life-threatening.
In order to avoid misunderstanding, confusion and other noise interference, you must call three times in a row when using Mayday. If other planes hear the distress signal of their own plane and there is no danger, they must keep silent mode so that the accident plane can keep in touch with the tower.
In addition, all planes must avoid the plane that sends out "distress" and keep a proper safe distance from it. If the captain fails to avoid the plane that issued Mayday during the flight, his flight license may be revoked and he may not apply again.
But sometimes it is not entirely because the plane is out of control that the captain sends out the Mayday. If passengers suddenly fall ill during the flight and threaten their lives, they will also use Mayday to call for help. Of course, the general captain will communicate with the controller, and the controller will give priority to the landing conditions. He won't call Mayday unless he has to, because he will face a series of investigations after calling, which is very troublesome.
In addition to calling for help, pilots can also call for help with "Panpan". The priority of this call for help belongs to the second level, which means that there is an emergency, but at present the pilot can control the situation. Please give priority to help if possible.
Similarly, in order not to be misunderstood and confused, the pilot must shout "Panpan, Panpan, Panpan" three times in a row when calling.
Don't avoid the consequences of launching the Mayday plane.
In the international radio call for help signal, MAYDAY said that his life would be in danger and he needed immediate help. Panpan means emergency, but there is no life-threatening situation. Please give limited help if you can.
It should be noted that pilots should never deliberately use distress signals or fail to give necessary help when they find distress signals. Once found, they will be held accountable.
At 20 1 1, Qatar Airways QR888 issued a distress signal of "SOS, SOS, SOS", claiming that there was only 5 minutes of fuel left. In fact, if the plane really only has five minutes of fuel, it is actually very dangerous, that is to say, it can only land successfully once. Once it fails to land, it will destroy the plane and kill people.
Therefore, when the plane issued the "Mayday" signal, all the planes obeyed the tower's dispatch to avoid it, but at that time, a plane of Jixiang Airlines refused to avoid it, saying that it only had 4 minutes of fuel. Later, the investigation showed that the plane could continue to fly for about 45 minutes, and it had avoidance conditions. Although the last two planes didn't collide (because the Qatar plane also lied about its fuel quantity, but it was qualified to call Mayday), the captain who refused to avoid it was revoked his pilot's license and was not allowed to fly in China. This incident is also called "the miracle in aviation history", because this flight is the first plane in aviation history to receive "Mayday" without avoiding it.
Personal safety is higher than Mount Tai. In order to avoid accidents, many details and distress signals have been optimized internationally. Only by seriously implementing these distress rules can aviation safety be guaranteed.
Therefore, whether you send out a "distress signal" or hear a "distress signal", you must actively respond, so as to ensure the safety of aviation flight.
