Walking in the streets, inadvertently looking up, there are many stories on famous brands.

"In Taipei, there are Wuchang Street and Hankou Street." This is what Jiang Bingkun, vice chairman of China Kuomintang, said when he visited Wuhan in 2007. Not only Wuhan, but also people from many cities in China can find streets named after their hometown when they go to Taipei.

In the center of Taipei, there are streets named after cities all over China, and the location of the streets is roughly in line with the city's position in the country. It starts from Jilin Road and Jinzhou Street in the northeast, Guangzhou Street in the south, Dunhuang Road in the northwest, Tibet Road and Dali Street in the southwest, with Changsha Road and Nanchang Road in the middle, Luoyang Street not far from Kaifeng Street, and Wuzhou Street next to Guilin Road ... a vivid map of China.

Street names are not only provincial capitals or big cities, but also many streets are named after small and medium-sized cities, such as Linyi Street, Yongkang Street, Kangding Road and Hami Road. This is true in Taipei, and so are other cities in Taiwan Province Province.

Walking on such a street, you will see such a scene from time to time: a school is called "Changchun Primary School", a street park is called "Jilin Park", and a big signboard of a shop reads "So-and-so Wuchang Store", which makes people stunned.

Other road names, such as Chahar Street and Guisui Street, have become history as the names of provinces or cities, but they still exist here. Walking into such a street is like walking into a lost history.

There are also some road names that are used by both Taiwan Province Province and mainland China. Maybe there is a street with the same name in front of your house. Bo 'ai Road and Zhongshan South Road have witnessed the prosperous business of Haikou and Qiongshan, and these two roads are still the busiest blocks in downtown Taipei.

The names of revolutionary ancestors such as minzu road, Quan Min Road, Minsheng Road, Sanmin Road and Zhongshan Road are shared by many cities in Taiwan Province Province and mainland China. The road named after Zhang Zizhong, Tong, Zhao and other Kuomintang figures who fought bravely against Japan is not only common in Taiwan Province province, but also in the history of mainland cities such as Beijing and Han.

Family village: the place with the most homesickness

I once visited a family village. There are many residential areas near Zuo Ying Barracks in Kaohsiung City. The roads in the village are winding and narrow, and village famous brands such as "Qiangzi New Village" and "Zimian New Village" stand on the roadside. The house is extremely messy and varied, but there are green trees and even a small vegetable garden. In the village, you can hear the slogan of military drill in the high wall not far away. My friends in Taiwan Province Province told me that this is a typical family village.

As soon as possible, the village is the general name of "military residence" in Taiwan Province Province. In the early 1950s, millions of Kuomintang officers and soldiers who retreated from the mainland to Taiwan Province Province and their families needed shelter, so they built houses near the barracks and arranged for soldiers to live. There are even lower-level officers and men who do it themselves, building bunkers on the open space brick by brick, and gradually forming a family village.

Walking on the narrow road in the village, we found that the houses here are different in shape, structure and materials, and almost no two buildings are the same. In many houses, there are also parts built with iron sheets and asbestos tiles, revealing the hardships of the construction process. It is said that the earliest villagers lived in temporary buildings made of these materials, and there were even bamboo fences in the building materials. And bamboo fence has become synonymous with family village in Taiwan Province province.

Hardship and struggle, warmth and affection, these are Taiwan Province people's own comments on family culture.

"Can you speak Sichuan dialect?" An uncle in the village heard that I was from the mainland and greeted me with "Mandarin" with a slight Sichuan accent. He said that his father was from Sichuan and his mother was a native who spoke Minnan. He was born in Taiwan Province Province, and has never been to Sichuan, so he learned very little Sichuan dialect from his father. His family is the most typical family structure in the village.

Old people greet each other in different dialects. Now the second generation of the village has moved out one after another, and the whole village has been deserted. This is probably the inevitable fate of other villages in Taiwan Province Province.

But it seems that people who left the village can't forget it. That's why there is a play like Treasure Island Village, and many of its creators and actors grew up in the village. I hope this kind of drama can also be staged in mainland China, because some scholars in Taiwan Province Province have said that the family village is one of the most important subcultures in Taiwan Province Province. Only by understanding the family village can we understand the "mainlanders" in Taiwan Province Province.
