On the basis of diagnosis and treatment of common and frequently-occurring diseases, the hospital began to introduce living kidney transplantation, coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve replacement and carotid artery stent implantation in 2000. In recent years, the specialties of hospitals have developed rapidly, and many specialties are in a leading position in the medical field of the city. Among them, the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases is the "Henan Provincial Clinical Medicine Specialist", "Pingdingshan Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center" and "Pingdingshan Clinical Medicine Key Specialist" determined by the provincial and municipal health authorities. Since 1988, the department has been the fourth in the country and the first in the province, and has been able to skillfully use catheter technology to treat rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease, various arrhythmias, cardiac pacemaker installation, coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, coronary artery stenosis, tumor, nerve, digestion, respiration and other professional diseases, with more than 50 treatment items, which are always at the domestic advanced level. In May, 2007, the hospital opened the first green channel of cardiac first aid in the city, using catheter technology to save the lives of patients with acute heart disease for 24 hours. With strong technical strength, oncology department has been recognized as "Pingdingshan Key Specialist of Clinical Medicine" and "Pingdingshan Sub-center of Henan Cancer Network Center", and ophthalmology department has been recognized as "Pingdingshan Sub-center of Henan Ophthalmology Network Center".
