August 8th every year is Men's Day in China, also known as Father's Day. 1August 8, 945 was initiated by some patriots in Shanghai, with the purpose of commemorating their fathers who died for their country on the battlefield.
Unlike Father's Day, Father's Day on August 8th is a unique male festival in China. The reason is simple: "August 8th" and "Dad" are homophonic. Its origin is said to be related to War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. On August 8th, 1945, some patriots in Shanghai launched "Father's Day" to commemorate the fathers who died for their country on the battlefield. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, August 8 every year was designated as Father's Day.
