Jianzha County is located in the southeast of Qinghai Province and the north of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. Most of the northeastern part of Jianzha County faces Hualong County with the Yellow River as the boundary, borders Xunhua County in the southeast, Guide County in the west and Tongren County in the south.
