The first world rhythmic gymnastics championship was held in Budapest, Hungary from 65438 to 0963, and the rhythmic gymnastics World Cup was held every two years from 65438 to 0982. Since 1978, the international sports federations have organized two intercontinental competitions, namely, the European Championship and the four continental championships (Asia, Oceania, North America and Latin America), which are held every other year of the world championships. Since 1984, rhythmic gymnastics has been listed as an Olympic event.
Since 1962 rhythmic gymnastics was recognized as an independent sport, its competition organization and rules have changed and improved. The International Rhythmic Gymnastics Scoring Rules was first published in 1976, revised in 1982 and published for the second time. The new scoring rules were revised and released again in 1989, and the rules in 1997 were the fifth revision. The emergence and evolution of rules fully embodies the development process of competitive rhythmic gymnastics.
