The water system in the city gathers into rivers from streams, forming a dendritic landscape pattern. This widely distributed and interrelated spatial feature provides natural support for the construction of river corridor system. In the past, the landscape value of urban rivers was not considered in urban development, and rivers were only built as urban sewage, drainage and shipping facilities, which caused water pollution and destruction of river landscape. Urban rivers lack complete cross-sectional configuration, narrow channels, steep banks and lack of aquatic and wet vegetation.

Type of environment. The construction of river corridors is to restore the integrity of river landscape and section and the connectivity between river corridors without destroying the natural properties of rivers. A complete river corridor section should include riverbed, floodplain, river bank and vegetation on both sides. The integrity of river corridor increases the types of waterfront transitional habitats, and can effectively prevent the inflow of pollutants, which is conducive to purifying water quality, creating wading space for urban residents and optimizing urban visual landscape. Repair and build green belts along the river, increase the connectivity of river corridors, and build a river ecological corridor system integrating leisure, transportation and greening.
