Alexander nevsky (1220- 1263), (figure 1 is a portrait painted by portrait painter Colin 1942- 1943 for Nevsky), formerly known as Alexander Yaroslavich,13rd century Russian. His struggle with the Swedish invaders and the Teutonic Knights of Germany saved northwest Russia from being conquered by western Catholic countries.
1240, Swedish feudal lords took advantage of Mongolia's invasion of Russia and, with the support of the Holy See and Germanic knights, marched into the Grand Duchy of Novgorod. In July, hundreds of Swedish naval vessels with more than 5,000 people from Sweden and its allies landed at the mouth of the Iirola River into neva river and invaded Russia. Duke Alexander decided to defeat the Swiss army by surprise attack. He didn't wait for all the troops to arrive, that is, he led a good soldier to Ladoga along the Volga River and absorbed them on the way. 15 July, 1 1, Russian troops lined up in the fog, with the infantry and the cavalry in the middle, stormed the Swiss barracks and defeated the Swedish army on the Neva River. He also got the title of "Nievas Ji" (meaning "neva river's"), calling him a hero of neva river. Not long after this victory, he was driven out of Novgorod by the nobles for fear of increasing his power. 1 On June 20th, 990, Russian Post issued1sheetlet (Figure 2) to commemorate the 750th anniversary of the Battle of neva river, with the medal of Alexander Nevsky and his troops printed on it.
124 1 year, due to the invasion of Teutonic Knights, it was invited back by Novgorod people and led Novgorod troops to resist the Knights. 1April 5, 242, he decisively defeated Teutonic knights on the ice of Lake Chude near the Estonian border, often called "the war on ice", and saved the Russian nation. When Mongolia's unstoppable cavalry ravaged and conquered Russia, Nevsky skillfully dealt with the Golden Horde and played a mediating role between the Golden Horde and the Russian vassal States. 1246 was made the Grand Duke of Kiev by Jin, and 1252 was made the Grand Duke of Vladimir. He devoted himself to unifying the principality in northern Russia. 1259 suppressed the Novgorod uprising. 1263, on the way back to Novgorod from the Golden Horde, the Yugoslav died, and his body was ordered by Peter the Great to be moved to St. Petersburg, and the Russian Orthodox Church made him a saint.
1725, the Russian emperor Catherine I awarded the "Saint alexander nevsky Empire" medal in recognition of Russian citizens who have made outstanding contributions to the country. 19 17 was abolished. 1942 On July 29th, German Nazi troops went deep into the hinterland of the Soviet Union, and Stalin declared Alexandria.
There are churches and monasteries named after alexander nevsky all over Russia and even abroad. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, located in the center of Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, is the largest Orthodox church in the Balkans. It was built in the 1877-0878 Russian-Turkish War for the Russian army to "liberate" Bulgaria. It is said that it started at 1909 and took 10 years to complete. The monastery of Alexander Nevsky in St. Petersburg was built on the order of Peter the Great. At that time, Peter the Great decided to build St. Petersburg in the Battle of neva river. While building the city, he built a monastery and moved the body of Grand Duke Nevsky to the monastery for the protection of God. There are four cemeteries in18th century and19th century around the monastery, including those of lazarev, Voronikhin, zakharov, Rossi, lomonosov, Tchaikovsky, Dostoevsky and Zhukovsky.
