Founded in 2007, the company is a legally registered branch of Shanghai Automotive Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "SAIC") and has a business license. Mainly responsible for the research and development, manufacturing and sales of SAIC's own brand products. The company has two brands, Roewe and MG, three technology research and development centers in Shanghai, Nanjing and Britain, and three manufacturing bases in Shanghai Lingang, Nanjing Pukou and Britain.
Shanghai Technology Center is located in Anting. Shanghai Auto invested 4.7 billion yuan to build a new technical center, covering an area of 500,000 square meters. The plan is completed in three stages. The ultimate goal is to build hardware with complete development capabilities in many laboratories, such as safety, vehicle dynamics, thermal energy, structure, vibration and noise, electronics and electricity, modeling, prototype trial production, powertrain, fuel cell engine, new energy power coordination and control integrated development. Its subsidiary, Jieneng Company, is a research and development team focusing on the research and development of key components of new energy vehicles, and operates in integration with the technology center.
The British Technology Center (SMTC UK) was formally established in May 2007, with former MG-Rover engineers as the research and development team. At present, it has 300 people to undertake the development work in the early stage of product and conceptual design stage. Nanjing Technology Center is composed of the original Nanqi engineering team, with a current scale of about 260 people, mainly relying on Pukou base project.
In the manufacturing field, the company has formed three platform-based production bases, namely Shanghai Lingang, Nanjing Pukou and Yinglong Bridge, with an annual production capacity of over 500,000 vehicles.
Among them, Shanghai Lingang manufacturing base covers an area of 1, 2 1, 000 square meters. At the beginning of the planning, we adhered to the principle of "four modernizations and one high" (lean, agile, flexible, modular and high-quality), reached the level of joint venture in hardware facilities, and completely covered the five major processes of stamping, body, painting, assembly and engine workshop. The first stage of basic vehicle production.
Nanjing Pukou base covers an area of 820,000 square meters, with the largest and most abundant single powertrain factory in the world, the only unmanned welding factory in China, a complete set of modern production lines in Britain and other advanced equipment.
The British Longbridge manufacturing base is the bridgehead of SAIC passenger cars in Europe.
