Optical fiber connection requires special equipment and technology, you can't operate it yourself, and it's expensive.

So you can only use network cable, which is commonly called twisted pair. However, at a distance of 500 meters, there will be problems of signal attenuation and electromagnetic interference of ordinary network cables. If shielded twisted pair is used, special connectors supporting shielding function and corresponding installation technology must be equipped when erecting lines. It must be noted that shielding only works if the whole cable has a shielding device and both ends are properly grounded. Therefore, the whole system is required to be shielded equipment, including cables, sockets, crystal heads and distribution frames, and the building needs a good grounding system. However, even if the shielding problem is solved, the problem of signal attenuation still exists. The transmission distance of the network cable is theoretically less than 200 meters, so a repeater may be needed.
