China people's indispensable wedding couplets. It originated from the custom of posting Spring Festival couplets in New Year. There are two main theories about the origin of China people posting Spring Festival couplets.
First of all, in early human life, people were often attacked by wild animals. At first, people could do nothing. Later, people gradually discovered that most of these wild animals were afraid of fire. So whenever these wild animals attack, people light a fire to scare them away and avoid being hurt. Later, it was discovered that these wild animals were actually afraid of the color of fire. Therefore, in the early spring, when it is warm and cold at first, and wild animals are often invisible, people will hang red things such as red cloth strips and red paper on the doors early to scare wild animals and pray for peace. Later, the time to paste red strips of cloth and red paper evolved into festivals. Writing auspicious words on red strips of cloth and red paper became Spring Festival couplets.
In the second way, Spring Festival couplets originated from peach symbols hanging around the gate during the Spring Festival before Qin and Han Dynasties. Fu Tao is two big boards made of peach wood, on which are written the names of the legendary gods and spirits who exorcise ghosts and suppress evil spirits. This custom lasted for more than 1000 years. It was not until the Five Dynasties that people began to put couplets on mahogany boards instead of the names of gods. According to records, on New Year's Eve in 964 AD, Meng Chang, a master of Houshu, wrote a pair of couplets on the bedroom door, "New Year's Eve, Qing Yu, Jia Jie number. Changchun ",the earliest Spring Festival couplets in China. After the Song Dynasty, it has become quite common for China folks to hang Spring Festival couplets in the New Year. Therefore, there is a famous sentence in Wang Anshi's poem "January Day", "Thousands of households always exchange new peaches for old ones". Later, this custom of sticking Spring Festival couplets to ward off evil spirits and pray for blessings was extended to weddings, and there were wedding couplets.
In addition, the vinegar altar in our traditional weddings in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and southern Fujian is also the evolution of old customs.
Legend has it that after the establishment of the Yuan Dynasty, Mongolian rulers, fearing the resistance of the Han people, organized every ten Han families into a community and practiced the method of sitting together. It is stipulated that as long as one out of ten households refuses to pay rent, evades hard labor, or hunts and practices martial arts, the people in the same society will be sentenced to a felony. At the same time, in order to monitor the actions of the Han people, it is stipulated that every ten households should have a Yuan soldier, who is responsible for eating and running errands in turn, so it is called "the Tartars". The Dalai Lama in this family is like ten local tyrants. He usually acts arrogantly, bullying, bullying men and women, bullying. They regard the Han people as ants and weeds, bully them at will, and kill people without paying for their lives. The people just dare to be angry and dare not speak.
One day, a cowherd was stopped by a Tatar on his way home and said, "I just want to eat beef, so you stay for me." Cowherd quickly shouted, "My family still depends on Niu Gengdi. You can't stay. My dad didn't hit me. " Yuan Bing was furious: "Little fellow, how dare you talk back!" Say that finish, he waved a whip and swept the cowherd. Who knows that the bull with humanity saw the young master being beaten, so he lowered his head and gave Yuan Bing a hard top on the stomach. Yuan Bing didn't pay attention, fell on his back, and the back of his head just hit a stone and died.
Cowherd's father was shocked when he learned about it. Everyone in the village said that Cowherd was in great trouble, and none of the ten families could survive. Just then, a fortune teller came to the road and said to the people, "I think you are blind and your faces are black, and you will be killed." But I have a way to eliminate the disaster for you. "When everyone heard that it was saved, they all knelt down to thank him and asked Mr. Zhugua to tell us a good prescription. Mr. Jugua said: "Now, only when Qi Xin works together to kill the Tatars can we turn the corner." They said, "With a few of us, we can kill several Tatars, and we will inevitably be beheaded. Mr. Wang thought for a moment and said, "Tomorrow is August 15th. Every family will make and eat moon cakes." You can hide a note in the moon cake bun that says,' Every family kills Yuan Tatar on August 15th to celebrate the Reunion Festival.' Give it to relatives and friends tomorrow, as long as everyone is United, it will be successful. "
As the moon cakes were sent to every household, the news spread among the Han people. Sure enough, on the night of August 15, people began to kill all the Tatars.
Although people later buried the body of the Dalai Lama and threw it away. The blood in the house has also been cleaned up, but there is still a strong smell of blood at home. What shall we do? People know that vinegar can eliminate some strange smells. People tried to find some stones to burn red in the stove, put them in a spoon, and then poured vinegar on them, giving off a burnt smell, and suddenly the bloody smell at home completely disappeared. Later, in the Ming Dynasty, this activity became a necessary ceremony in many places on New Year's Eve. Later, the ceremony was moved to the wedding, and there was a jealous altar before the bride got off the sedan chair.
