Tonghua is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jilin Province, located in the southeast of Jilin, bordering Baishan, Benxi, Fushun and Dandong in the east, facing Cijiang Road in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea across the Yalu River in the south, and connecting Liaoyuan City and Jilin City in the north. Tonghua has a long history and profound cultural heritage. It is the birthplace of Koguryo culture and Shaman culture. In 425 years since Koguryo established its capital in Ji 'an, Koguryo's Imperial City, Imperial Tomb and Noble Tomb are the only world cultural heritage successfully declared independently in Northeast China.

Tonghua is located in the center of Northeast Asia Economic Circle and the core area of Yalu River International Economic Cooperation Belt.
