At present, the environmental protection problems in the take-away industry mainly focus on disposable packaging waste. Reducing the amount of packaging waste from the source, reducing the amount of packaging waste entering the terminal and properly disposing of it are the keys to solve the problem. How to implement these measures, on the one hand, it is necessary to analyze the impact of various packaging materials on the environment from the perspective of the whole life cycle, and find out economic, reasonable, technically feasible and environmentally friendly solutions; On the other hand, it is necessary to deeply analyze the operation mode of the industrial chain, including the production, transportation, use and disposal of products, clarify the responsibilities and power points of each subject, accurately identify business characteristics, and find the most efficient path. Since its establishment, the Castle Peak Project has adhered to a scientific and rigorous attitude, cooperated with industry organizations, experts and scholars to carry out a series of investigations and forward-looking studies, and initiated the establishment of the "Environmental Advisory Group of the Special Fund for the US Mission Takeaway Castle Peak Project" in conjunction with the China Environmental Protection Foundation to explore solutions.
-Pay attention to the scientific direction of life cycle environmental impact assessment.
In order to systematically assess the environmental impact of the whole process of take-away, Meituan and Tsinghua University Environmental Research Institute jointly conducted a study on the environmental impact of the take-away industry, and based on the life cycle theory, constructed an analysis framework of the whole take-away industry chain. The overall research shows that the environmental impact of disposable packaging involves many subjects and links such as production, transportation, use and disposal, and the environmental impact of packaging of different materials is different in different links. It is not simply to replace a certain material to solve the problem, but to consider the scientific management path design from the perspective of the whole life cycle.
-Analyze the feasibility of reducing plastic pollution path based on production and circulation links.
Due to the particularity of Chinese food, there is no better substitute material for plastic lunch boxes in take-away packaging materials, so it is difficult to do it overnight. According to the actual situation, we should promote the standardization and greening of the whole industrial chain through a number of measures, such as reducing the source, developing green packaging and recycling lunch boxes on a large scale, and gradually open up all links.

The green and low-carbon development of the take-away industry can not be separated from the fact that the participants in the whole industrial chain bear the same but different environmental protection responsibilities, establish a correct environmental protection concept in cognition, support the research and development of new materials and technological breakthroughs, guide market participants to match environmental protection supply and demand, promote the change of consumer behavior through reasonable mechanism design, and accelerate the upgrading of the industry into a "puzzle". In this process, as a trading performance platform, it can play an important role of convergence and extensive connection, prompting all parties to form a joint force on the basis of conforming to the laws of economic and market development, promoting the smooth operation of the industrial chain, coping with the plastic governance problems, and promoting the green transformation of the industry.
Implementing "Castle Peak Plan" to Promote Green and Low-carbon Development of Takeaway Industry
Qingshan plan focuses on the green and low-carbon development of the industry, drives all ecological parties to build a harmonious life between man and nature, and sets up four sections: green packaging, low-carbon ecology, Qingshan technology and Qingshan public welfare to accelerate the green development of the industry.
-Green packaging, promoting the "green" packaging of take-away catering.
Implement green ecological design. Meituan and the Joint Working Group of Green Recycled Plastics Supply Chain jointly issued the Detailed Rules for Evaluation of Plastic Products-Evaluation Criteria for Disposable Catering Plastic Packaging Containers, which is based on the General Rules for Evaluation of Plastic Product Recycling Design and is the first completely independent plastic product design standard system in China.
Establish green standards and norms. Participate in the formulation of environmental protection packaging standards for take-away, promote the development of environmental protection packaging standardization, and participate in the formulation of General Technical Requirements for Disposable Degradable Tableware, General Technical Requirements for Paper Green Take-away Packaging, Environmental Protection Handbag for Recycled Polypropylene Nonwovens, Shanghai Local Standards General Technical Requirements for Food Delivery Bags for Catering Services (Network) and General Technical Requirements for Food Delivery Paper Bowls for Catering Services (Network).
Increase the supply of green packaging. We will cooperate with China Pulp and Paper Research Institute, China Plastics Processing Industry Association and its special committee on degradable plastics, packaging manufacturers and catering businesses to carry out innovative incubation of take-away packaging, and constantly explore innovative and practical green packaging schemes that meet the actual needs of catering businesses. 202 1 Green Packaging Recommendation List of Castle Peak Plan released. On the basis of the first two recommended lists in 2020, the category of "easy-to-recycle recycled plastic packaging containers" was added, and 10 1 innovative environmental protection packaging scheme of1product manufacturer was provided.
Docking supply and demand, promoting green products. Meituan selected and funded new innovative packaging for merchants to try out and promote. 28 innovative packaging products from 7 suppliers were hatched and provided to 930,000 sets of free trials for catering enterprises nationwide, and the feedback was continuously optimized. For different dishes, we will hold innovative exchange activities for food and beverage take-away packaging. For example, focus on the scene of "porridge, stew and dessert". In conjunction with Hainan Plastics Association, we will establish a biodegradable product distribution center and settle in the self-operated area of Meituan takeaway service market, and establish a trading platform for environmental protection packaging products in Hainan.
Promote large-scale recycling of lunch boxes. Cooperate with the government, communities, universities, NGOs, catering businesses, recycling enterprises, etc. To explore the mode of recycling plastic lunch boxes. More and more plastic lunch boxes are converted into recycled resources. In Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and other places, more than 1500 trials of garbage sorting and lunch box recycling were carried out, covering seven kinds of scenes such as campus, community, office building, restaurant and scenic spot. Among them, the first municipal pilot was launched in Xiamen in April, 202 1. The project covers four jurisdictions in Xiamen, with more than 1000 communities and units, and realizes the large-scale recycling of about 2,520 tons of annual lunch boxes. In June, 20021year, Shanghai set up a lunch box recycling pilot, with an average daily lunch box recycling volume of about 3 ~5 tons. In the process of recycling, the recycled plastic lunch boxes are broken, cleaned and recreated to realize the "remodeling and rebirth" of take-away lunch boxes.
-Low-carbon ecology, linking enterprises and consumers with "going green"
On the commercial side, the product function of "Commercial Castle Peak Archives" was launched to encourage catering businesses to share their environmental protection practices. In June, 20265438+0, catering businesses on Meituan take-out can publish environmental protection files visible to users, and enrich their environmental protection file information by implementing various environmental protection measures such as "reducing the use of disposable goods", "choosing environmental protection packaging" and "advocating and participating in packaging recycling". By the end of 20021,more than 2 million businesses had established Qingshan archives, and about 35,000 businesses had voluntarily uploaded their own environmental protection experiences or commitments in the "Business Qingshan Archives". At the same time, since June 5438+00, 2020, 14 rounds of publicity activities have been carried out in Meituan takeaway merchant App and Meituan Training Center.
The user reduces the source of tableware, and the "no tableware" function was first introduced on 20 17. Then continue to upgrade to the required functions. By the end of May 2022, more than 200 million Meituan takeaway users had chosen "no tableware". At the same time, give full play to its own advantages and vigorously advocate green consumption. Since September 20 17, the last day of each month has been designated as "the environmental protection day of the US group's take-out". Through publicity resources such as Meituan Takeaway App, Weibo, WeChat, etc., we will unite various environmental protection organizations and public welfare businesses to publicize environmental protection concepts and public welfare actions and enhance public awareness of environmental protection. At present, it has been launched 50 times, with more than 2.2 billion people.
In the catering circle, the Guide and Practice Manual for Sustainable Catering Merchants was published, which cultivated the concept of sustainable management of merchants and promoted the construction of long-term sustainable management ability of catering merchants, put forward four major action directions, 13 action measures, provided detailed action path suggestions supplemented by reference cases, and launched a series of video courses on how to make take-away packaging more environmentally friendly and how to reduce food waste in restaurants. At the same time, put the knowledge system into practice, build an offline Qingshan sustainable merchant demonstration street in An and Kunming, and launch a sustainable catering initiative in Beijing, Jinan and Qingdao, and promote the sustainable measures of merchants by applying green packaging and reducing food waste, so as to convey the concept of sustainability to users.
-Qingshan Technology subsidizes the whole industry chain to "plant" green.
Among them, the first environmental protection science and technology innovation demonstration project focused on three major areas: green innovative packaging, green recycling and green supply chain system, and publicly collected innovative, environmentally friendly and exemplary advanced technologies and projects, hoping to popularize and apply a number of environmental protection innovation scientific and technological achievements, form a replicable demonstration case, and effectively promote the green and low-carbon cycle development of the take-away industry. The first demonstration project selection funded 6 green packaging demonstration projects and 3 lunch box recycling and high-value utilization demonstration projects. If the recycling project is delivered as scheduled, it is estimated that the recycling and disposal capacity of PP plastics will be 25,000 tons/year.
-Qingshan public welfare, driving the whole society to participate in "creating" green.
Castle Peak Project and China Environmental Protection Foundation set up Castle Peak Public Welfare Fund, which brought together more than 75 public welfare enterprises in Wan Qingshan. Every time these businesses make a single order, they will donate 0.0 1 yuan or more to Qingshan public welfare fund to support environmental protection public welfare projects. In 2022, Castle Peak Public Welfare launched the "Nature Protection Action", aiming at funding and guiding social organizations and scientific research institutions to carry out public welfare projects around protected areas based on nature-based solutions to climate change, effectively improving the ecological quality of protected areas, improving human adaptability to climate change, and building a beautiful home with harmony between man and nature. In 2022, 30 funded projects are being gradually implemented.

Promoting the green and low-carbon development of the takeaway industry has a long way to go, and the Castle Peak Plan will also be a long-term solution. On the occasion of the third anniversary of the Castle Peak Plan in August 2020, the US Mission put forward the take-away plastic reduction action and the goal in 2025 as the action program for the next stage of the Castle Peak Plan.
Looking forward to 2025, the goal of Castle Peak Plan is to build a green packaging supply chain and provide recyclable, degradable or reusable take-away packaging solutions for all merchants on the platform; Promote the construction of recycling market-oriented mechanism, and establish a normalized lunch box recycling system in more than 20 provinces across the country by linking upstream and downstream industries; Strengthen consumer guide and incentives, optimize product functions and operating systems, and promote 654.38 billion users to practice sustainable consumption behaviors such as no tableware.
