Military training is required in universities. According to the provisions of the Military Service Law of People's Republic of China (PRC):

Article 45 Students in ordinary institutions of higher learning must receive basic military training during their school days. According to the needs of national defense construction, short-term intensive training will be given to students who are suitable for officers' posts. Those who pass the examination will be approved by military organs to serve in the officers' reserve.

Military training is a means to strengthen national defense education. It has been developed in colleges and universities for more than twenty years, and it is also one of the courses in the teaching system of colleges and universities. Military training is a compulsory course for freshmen. Generally speaking, it is 3 credits. Most colleges and universities will arrange military training for freshmen before the start of school, and a few schools will arrange military training for freshmen around the second year, which is generally 15 days.

Freshman military training will distribute (students buy) all military training clothes and supplies, including: military uniforms (including hats) shirts, ties, military shoes, Sam Browne belts, backpack belts, etc. General schools will choose camouflage uniforms, and some colleges and universities will rotate the training uniforms of the armed forces every year to prevent freshmen from borrowing training uniforms and supplies from senior students.

The subjects of military training are: queue practice, shouting slogans, crawling forward, singing and midnight training. In addition to normal military training, some colleges and universities also offer courses such as battlefield rescue, light weapons shooting, military topography, and computer chess deduction (simulating the main war cases of World War II).
