The origin of couplets
The level of couplets originated from the poetry creation in China's ancient literature. In ancient times, poetry was one of the main ways for literati to express their feelings and thoughts, and couplets were a form of poetry, which was often used in Spring Festival, weddings and other occasions.
The requirement of couplet leveling can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty at the earliest, when there were already some regulations on couplet leveling. In the Song Dynasty, the rules of leveling couplets were more perfect and became an independent literary and artistic form. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the rules of Ping couplets were further developed and perfected, and became an important part of China's classical literature.
