The Vietnam-US War lasted for 20 years (1955- 1975), and many Vietnamese spent their childhood and youth in the war years, so the Vietnamese have a deep grudge against the United States. Vietnam is in urgent need of development after the war, hoping to keep up with the pace of the world. After a series of policy development, Vietnam has regained some vitality and become a better country in Southeast Asia. Later, investors from other countries set up factories in Vietnam, which indirectly promoted the local economic level and was a win-win situation. Therefore, Vietnam began to vigorously carry out reform and opening up with construction as the main purpose, which urgently needed investment from various countries and some advanced technologies.
In the mid-1980s, Vietnam followed China's example and made a series of innovations, which greatly improved the overall economy. Therefore, the Vietnamese gradually recovered from the pain of the war and worked harder to develop their own economy, hoping to let their children and grandchildren live a better life. However, Vietnam encountered many difficulties in the early stage of reform. First of all, what is lacking most is a lot of money and technology in this field. These two fatal reasons made Vietnam only shout slogans for a long time, and everyone expressed helplessness, which led to the extremely slow economic development in Vietnam.
With the disintegration of the Soviet Union in the 1990s, the world pattern was reshuffled, and the United States became the world's number one, with rapid economic growth and ranking first all the year round. Moreover, at this time, the American market is quite mature, with great achievements in various technical fields, and there are huge funds waiting for investment in other countries. At this time, in order to develop its own economy, Vietnam could not take care of so many old enemies, so it hoped to cooperate with the United States and obtain investment and technology from the other side. Afterwards, it was proved that Vietnam forgot its hatred and turned to America.
At first, most western investments tended to China. With the rapid development of China's economy and the increase of domestic labor costs, many foreign-funded enterprises turn their eyes to Vietnam, and then gradually set up factories in Vietnam. After all, the labor there is cheaper, and foreign companies will naturally prefer people with low prices. Because of this, Viet Nam began to accept and cooperate with many investment enterprises transferred from China. Soon, many American enterprises entered Vietnam one after another, providing many employment opportunities for local people and improving the overall economic level of Vietnam. After receiving these benefits, local residents are getting better and better to the United States diplomatically.
Apart from being nice to the United States, Vietnam is also very dependent on China. At the end of World War II, China took the lead in implementing various new reform policies, and Viet Nam followed suit according to China's reform policies. 199 1, the resumption of normal diplomacy between China and Vietnam has further promoted our relations with Vietnam. Especially after the Millennium, China and ASEAN countries reached a trade liberalization strategy. Since then, Vietnam has become more and more dependent on China, so we think that although Vietnam is often wooed by the United States, it still needs to rely more on China.
Geographically, Vietnam belongs to Southeast Asian countries, backed by the South China Sea, and poses little threat to the United States. One of the main purposes for the United States to fight Vietnam is to control South Vietnam so as to contain China strategically. Now that Vietnam is unified, but relatively backward, the United States has taken a fancy to Vietnam's cheap labor and is naturally willing to cooperate with Vietnam.
