Put forward the viewpoint of language consistency
It was the Chinese Movement that put forward the idea of "consistency between words and writing". The Putonghua Movement refers to the movement of China from the late Qing Dynasty to 1949 to formulate and standardize Chinese and China Mandarin based on Putonghua. It put forward two slogans: "consistent words" and "unified national language". "Consistency between writing and writing" means that the written language is written in vernacular Chinese instead of classical Chinese. This movement has made certain contributions to the establishment and implementation of homophones in modern Chinese, as well as to the style reform and phonetic symbols.

Influenced by the Meiji Restoration in Japan, the issue of unifying the national language was put forward in the second decade of the late Qing Dynasty. The name "Mandarin" was first put forward by Wu Rulun, a famous ancient prose writer of Tongcheng School who was appointed as the head teacher of Shi Jing University at that time. 1902, he went to Japan to study politics, and was deeply shocked to see Japan's achievements in popularizing Putonghua (Tokyo dialect). After returning to China, he wrote to Zhang Baixi, Minister of Management Department, advocating teaching Wang Zhao's Mandarin consonants in schools and promoting Putonghua based on "Beijing dialect". 1909, the senior advisory committee of the Qing government held a meeting, and member Jiang Qian proposed to rename "Mandarin" as "Mandarin" and set up a "Mandarin Compilation and Textual Research Committee" to be responsible for the compilation and textual research. 19 1 1 year, the Ministry of Education held the "Central Education Conference" and adopted the Measures for the Unification of Putonghua. It was decided to set up a national language and writing investigation headquarters in Beijing, set up branches in all provinces, investigate characters, grammar and phonology, examine and approve the standards of "national language and writing", and edit national language and writing textbooks, national language and writing dictionaries and dialect comparison tables.
