China joined the United Nations on 1983, and applied to hold the World Stamp Exhibition in Beijing on 1999, the 50th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC). At that time, 67 countries and regions participated in the exhibition, and more than 300,000 merchants participated in the exhibition, which had a great influence in the world. Ten years later, the World Stamp Exhibition will be held again in Luoyang, the ancient capital, in the season when peonies are in full bloom, which will surely be an unprecedented and colorful event.
It is reported that after the 2009 World Stamp Exhibition was decided to be held in Luoyang, the "China 2009 World Stamp Exhibition Organizing Committee" was established in Beijing at the end of 2007, and officially sent invitations to all countries in the world. The International Philatelic Federation, the Asian Philatelic Federation and the All-China Philatelic Federation sent invitations to the member countries of the International Philatelic Federation and the Universal Postal Union. In just three months, they have received official responses from 63 countries and regions, showing the influence of China 2009 World Stamp Exhibition.
At present, the emblem, mascot and theme slogan of China 2009 World Stamp Exhibition have been collected extensively and determined by the judges after three rounds of evaluation. The emblem is a work "Flying to the World" designed by Fujian Zhuo Wenbin. The mascot is "Peony Messenger", which was created by Wang, a famous stamp designer in China. The theme slogan of Zhao Yang's creation is "Expo World Stamp Exhibition, Meet Peony City". During the event, the world stamp exhibition "Peony Cup" Junior Stamp Painting Competition will also be held; World auction of rare stamp products; Commemorate the world stamp issuing ceremony and peony flower exhibition and other cultural activities with local characteristics. China Guardian International Auction Co., Ltd. was designated as the special auction of the postal exhibition, and the famous host Yang Lan was invited as the image ambassador of the exhibition.
