How did the International Anti-Drug Day come about?
June 26th every year is the International Anti-drug Day designated by the United Nations.

In the 1980s, drugs became increasingly rampant around the world and drug smuggling became increasingly serious. Faced with this grim situation, the United Nations held a ministerial conference on drug abuse and illegal trafficking in Vienna, Austria in June, 1987. The congress put forward the slogan of "love life, don't take drugs" and suggested that June 26th every year be designated as "International Anti-drug Day" to arouse the attention of all countries in the world to the drug problem and resist the harm of drugs. In February, 65438, the 42nd session of the General Assembly passed a resolution to officially designate June 26th as the International Day against Drugs.

Since 1992, the International Anti-Drug Day has had a theme every year to achieve the effect of international attention and participation. For example, the theme of International Anti-Drug Day in 2006 is "Drugs are no joke", which aims to appeal to the international community to pay attention to anti-drug education for children, let them know the harm of drugs, protect children from drugs and provide them with a healthy environment for growth. The theme of International Anti-Drug Day in 2007 is "Resist drugs and participate in drug control".

1990 The United Nations special session on drug control 17 held in new york in February adopted the Political Declaration and the Global Action Plan, and solemnly declared the last 10 of the 20th century (199 1-2000) as the "International Drug Control Decade". 1In June 1998, the Political Declaration, the Declaration on the Guiding Principles of Drug Demand Reduction and the Declaration on Strengthening International Cooperation to Deal with the Drug Problem adopted by the second special session of the United Nations on drug control formulated a cross-century strategy to strengthen international judicial cooperation, control stimulants, reduce drug demand, combat money laundering and eradicate illegal drug crops, and establish a global "drug-free world".
