Copper engraving was introduced into China during the Qianlong period. Emperor Qianlong ordered the production of copperplate prints for generals and famous battles who contributed to the war. Some of them have become the collections of major museums at home and abroad. After the liberation of China, most of the printmaking departments of various fine arts colleges set up the specialty of copperplate painting. However, the production of copperplate prints needs a well-planned place, and most students do not have such working conditions after graduation. With the passage of time, copper plate painting gradually declined. Only a few painters in Shanghai stick to the courtyard of copperplate prints. One of them is Lu Zhiping from Shanghai Oil Painting Sculpture Institute.
The main manufacturing methods are dry etching, etching and non-array method, so there are? Etching prints? 、? Hollow version? 、? Carve copper coins? At present, they are collectively referred to as copperplate prints. Among them, corrosion method is more common. Firstly, the metal surface is coated with preservative, carved with a knife or needle, and partially corroded with acidic corrosive liquid (such as nitric acid and sulfuric acid) to form concave lines (surfaces), so it is called concave plate. When printing, ink is filled in the concave lines, and excess ink is wiped off the page. In 1950s, major fine arts colleges all over the country set up printmaking departments, offered specialized courses in copperplate, and trained experts engaged in copperplate creation and education in China. They have created a large number of exquisite works one after another, filling the blank of Yu Garden in China.
In the 1960s and 1970s, China's copperplate prints were at a low ebb, and in the early 1980s, with the domestic reform and opening up, a new period of development began. In recent 20 years, academic exchanges between exhibition and publishing majors have been frequent, and China copperplate prints are deeply loved by artists at home and abroad, and are collected by major art galleries all over the world.
