During his tenure as county magistrate, Zhang Yong's political achievements were quite good, which benefited a lot of people. But one of his stories still circulating in Chongyang is "punishing officials with one dollar". When I was in Chongyang County, one day Zhang Yong saw a small official with a bill under his sideburns. I didn't know it was the money in the county government until I asked. Zhang Yong accused the small official of stealing money. As a result, Xiao Guan said, if you want to hit me with so little money, can you still kill me? As a result, Zhang Yong wrote a verdict: a dollar a day, a thousand days, a rope was sawed off, a drop of water was worn out. Then, Zhang Yong pushed the little official out and cut off his head with a knife. A troublemaker

When I first arrived in Chengdu, the people's feelings and military situation were very unstable, and people were worried everywhere. As the new chief executive, Zhang Yong had to review the troops. The military parade must have a slogan. As a result, during the military parade, the soldiers actually shouted the slogan "Long live" for the arrival of the new chief. The noise of the soldiers is frightening. The name "Long live" was absolutely taboo in the Song Dynasty. Think about it. When Song Taizu and Zhao Kuangyin ascended the throne, they were made emperors amid the noise of soldiers shouting "Long live". When a soldier shouts "Long live" to you, you are trespassing and committing treason.

Zhang Yong heard the soldier's voice, but he didn't panic and dismounted quickly. After dismounting, he immediately shouted "Long live" in the direction of Kaifeng, the northern imperial city. This move truly reflects Zhang Yong's flexibility. In this case, if it is not handled properly, losing your head is definitely a high probability event. However, these soldiers are really wicked, and harming people is really a word. Later, Zhang Yong led these soldiers to quell the rebellion.

Several years later, Han Qi, another minister of the Song Dynasty, said that if such a thing happened, he would definitely not handle it himself.

In the second year of Jingdezhen (1005), 60-year-old Zhang Yong invented the world's earliest paper money-Jiaozi with mulberry leaves in Chengdu.

Later, when he came to Hangzhou to be an official, he turned around and confirmed the prediction that "it is unusual to levy Wu into Shu".
