What is the proposal and development of aestheticism?
Aestheticism is a modernist literary trend popular in Europe at the end of 19. The initiator is the French romantic poet Gaudi, who put forward the slogan of "Art for Art's sake", claiming that art itself is an end, flaunting that literature and art are divorced from society, advocating pure beauty and pursuing abstract artistic effects. This view was fully reflected in the creation of Wilde and others, and was later systematized by British literary theorist Pater. The rise of aestheticism is a resistance to utilitarian philosophy, philistinism and vulgar style in capitalist society, and its ideological basis can be traced back to Kant's aesthetic thought.
