1903 (29th year of Guangxu reign in Qing dynasty) In July, Xiliang, then governor of Sichuan, and Zhang Zhidong, then governor of Huguang, jointly invited the Qing government to build the Sichuan-Han Railway. The scheduled route of Chuanhan Railway starts from Chengdu, Sichuan, passes through Neijiang, Chongqing and Yichang, and ends in Hankou, Hubei. Chengdu-chongqing railway, which was built later, is a section of this railway line from Chengdu to Chongqing in Sichuan.

1909 10, some sections of Sichuan-Han Railway started construction.

19 1 1 in August, 2008, the Sichuan-Han railway was shut down after nearly two years of construction.

1June, 936, the National Government established the "chengdu-chongqing railway Engineering Bureau" to continue the construction of chengdu-chongqing railway, but it was stopped due to War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and financial problems. 1May, 947, the whole project was paralyzed. Chengdu-chongqing railway only built part of subgrade, tunnel and bridge in the section from Chongqing to Yongchuan, and completed 14% of the total engineering quantity.

On June 7th, 1950, Southwest Railway Engineering Bureau was established.

1950 June 16, chengdu-chongqing railway resumed construction.

Chengdu-chongqing railway completed in June 1952.

On July 30th, 1953, chengdu-chongqing railway was officially opened to traffic.
