Since the Philippines became a Spanish colony in 1565, the indomitable Filipino people have been carrying out all kinds of resistance. In the 300 years since the Spanish invasion, there have been five uprisings every year on average, with large-scale uprisings 102. /kloc-The Krabi Uprising broke out in 0/873, which awakened the national consciousness of the Filipino people. 1In July, 892, the bourgeois radicals headed by the "great mountaineer" Andres bonifacio set up a secret organization "Katipunan" (meaning "Supreme Association for Ethnic Children"). Although the organization has a strong religious color, the program first proposed to rely on the people to achieve national independence through armed struggle.
Bonifacio, jacinto and others took "Katipunan" as the core force, prepared for armed struggle, and founded the underground publication Freedom to publicize their ideas. "Katipunan" focuses on developing members among workers, farmers, employees, soldiers and intellectuals. By 1896, there are already 30,000 members and hundreds of thousands of sympathizers.
1At the end of 895, "Katipunan" held a historic meeting in san mateo Cave. The meeting decided to prepare for an armed uprising and put forward the slogan "Long live the independence of the Philippines". In preparation for the uprising, "Katipunan" stepped up fundraising to buy arms. In just a few months, it raised 200,000 pesos from the people and signed an agreement with Japan to buy 6,543,800 guns and 654,38,050 cannons.
Bonifacio and jacinto made a battle plan: to establish a revolutionary base near a mountain in Neihu Province as an uprising headquarters to command uprisings in various parts of the Philippines. It is planned to hold uprisings all over Luzon Island, then attack Manila, the center of Spanish colonial rule, and finally liberate the remaining islands. 1In August, 896, Katipunan convened the fifth Supreme Council, and decided to set up the Chairman of the Supreme Council, the Secretary of State, the War Department, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance as the leading bodies of the uprising. Just as the revolution was developing rapidly, the Spanish colonial authorities discovered the uprising plan and began to suppress it. On August 23rd, "Katipunan" held an emergency meeting in Tawak, Bahrain, a suburb of Manila, and decided to launch an uprising in advance. The meeting set up a wartime cabinet headed by jacinto to lead the uprising in a unified way.
