Ryan International Marathon is approved by the State Sports General Administration and co-sponsored by China Athletics Association, Henan Sports Bureau, Zhengzhou Municipal People's Government and Kaifeng Municipal People's Government. It is the only permanent large-scale international sports event in Henan Province and the most popular full marathon event in central and western China. The competition is scheduled to be held at the appropriate time in late March and early April every spring. Since it was first held in 2007, it has grown from the initial 5,600 people to the seventh session of 20 13, with 39,000 participants from 29 countries and regions.
