According to the contract (US$ 375 million) signed by Malaysian Ministry of Defence and Polish Boumard Company on April 1 1, 2003, Malaysia will finally receive 48 PT-9 1M main battle tanks. The contract also includes six WZT-4 armored maintenance vehicles, PMC-"Giant lizard" armored bridge vehicle (based on PMC-90 armored bridge vehicle and 26-meter-long MAN MLC70 "Giant lizard" bridge body), three Obrum Gliwicmid-M obstacle-breaking vehicles and several sets of training equipment. Delivery will be completed before 2007. According to the contract, Ma Fang's PT-9 1M main battle tank will adopt 735kW PZL Wola S- 1000R diesel engine, Renke 350 series automatic transmission, Sajim SAVAN- 15 fire control system, Upsilong navigation and battle management system and EPS-72 electric turret drive device of EADS National Defense Electronics Company.
The tank will be equipped with 2A46MS 125mm gun and FN Herstal 7.62 parallel machine gun. The conductor will also be equipped with 1 FN Gestal M2HB-QCB12.7mm anti-aircraft machine gun mounted on the turret. PT-9 1M will also be equipped with SSP- 1 Obra universal self-shielding laser early warning system developed by Polish PCO company, which integrates two rows of ***24 Zmdezamet 8 1mm smoke Grenade launchers for self-defense, and these Grenade launchers are installed on turrets. The tank will also use Poland's ERAWA-2 explosive reaction armor, modern cockpit, air conditioning system and other user-specified modifications. It is said that PT-9 1M will also use rubber track pins, which are jointly manufactured by Diehl Remscheid of Germany and MMC Defence Company, a partner of Bumar Company in Malaysia and Poland. Ikramatic Sdn Bhd will cooperate with Swiss RUAG Electronics Company to provide PT-9 1M tactical occupant simulator, while the maintenance and driver training equipment will be provided by Bumar Company.
