Horqin grassland is not in Mongolia, but in Inner Mongolia. It is the grassland in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in China, including Xiliaohe, Huolinhe and Taoerhe basins in the eastern part of the southern section of Daxing 'anling Mountains. It is a semi-arid grassland zone in the south of temperate zone. Originally a high-quality grassland, it soon became sandy, and some of it has degenerated into Horqin sandy land.

Also known as Horqin Sandy Land. Named after ancient Mongolian tribes. It is located at 42 5' ~ 43 5' north latitude and117 30' ~123 30' east longitude. It is 250 ~ 650 meters above sea level and located in the triangle between the west bank of Xilamulun River and Laoha River. It is high in the west and low in the east, stretching for more than 400 kilometers and covering an area of about 42,300 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over Wengniute Banner and Aohan Banner in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China, and Kailu County, Horqin Left-wing Houqi, Naiman Banner and Hure Banner in Tongliao City.
