What does vascular stenosis mean?
If the degree of vascular stenosis does not exceed 50%, there will generally be no obvious clinical symptoms. We can observe and treat the causes of vascular stenosis. If the degree of stenosis is between 50% and 70%, accompanied by clinical symptoms or more than 70%, further examination and treatment are needed. Generally speaking, vascular surgery should see a doctor, determine the location and degree of stenosis through CTA examination of blood vessels, and consider whether it is feasible to perform vascular intervention or traditional endarterectomy for treatment.
Can vascular stenosis be restored?
Whether vascular stenosis can be recovered depends on the etiology of vascular stenosis. If the vascular stenosis is caused by external pressure and there is no lesion in the intima, as long as the external cause is removed, the vascular stenosis can return to normal. However, if external factors have caused intimal hyperplasia and lumen stenosis, vascular stenosis is irreversible if external factors are removed at this time. For vascular stenosis without obvious symptoms, medication can be used. For vascular stenosis that causes related symptoms, most of them need surgery to restore vascular patency. If the patient has severe symptoms of limb ischemia, coronary artery ischemia or intracranial artery ischemia, interventional method can be used to send the guide wire catheter into the narrow blood vessel, and balloon dilatation or stent treatment can be used to open the blood vessel and ensure blood supply to the tissues or organs supplying the blood vessel, so that the blood vessel stenosis can be cured. So the treatment of vascular stenosis needs to choose the treatment method according to the severity. Mild stenosis can be treated with drugs, and severe stenosis needs surgery or interventional therapy.
What are the symptoms of vascular stenosis?
1, paresthesia of lower limbs
The lower limb is an important part to reflect whether there is stenosis in blood vessels. If there is vascular stenosis in the lower limbs, it will cause heavy limbs, shallow sensation and even loss of sensation.
2, edema of lower limbs
Stenosis of blood vessels in lower limbs and obstruction of deep venous return will lead to edema, sometimes swelling and pain of limbs, pigmentation, and even ulceration of narrow parts due to insufficient nutrition.
3. Temperature
Feel the skin temperature with your hands. The reason why the skin has temperature is because the blood passes through the limbs. If the blood vessels are narrow and the arterial blood supply is insufficient, the skin temperature will also change and the blood flow will decrease.
Step 4: Pain
Limb pain is the most common symptom of vascular stenosis, which can be divided into intermittent pain and persistent pain. The severe and persistent pain also indicates that vascular disease is more serious, and patients will feel obvious pain even at rest.
5. Look at skin color
In the case of adequate arterial blood supply, it is reddish. If the skin color is pale or cyanotic, it means that the arterial blood supply is insufficient. The most common cause of this phenomenon is vascular stenosis. Another method is to press the skin with your fingers. If you suddenly let go, the skin color will recover quickly, suggesting that the arterial blood supply is better. If vascular stenosis and arterial ischemia occur, the recovery time will also be delayed.
