Changshou Lake is located in the east of Changshou District in Chongqing. It is an artificial freshwater lake formed after the dam of Shizitan Hydropower Station was completed during the First Five-Year Plan period. It is named because it is located in Changshou District. Changshou Lake is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a national eco-tourism leisure resort and a provincial-level scenic spot.
Changshou Lake was approved as a municipal scenic spot on 1992, with a planned area of 266 square kilometers, including 65.5 square kilometers of water area and 203 islands. It is the largest artificial freshwater lake in southwest China, with a basin of10 billion cubic meters.
