There are many stories about Yuxian millet. According to legend, Fang Guancheng, the governor of Zhili during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, came to the governor's yamen in Yuxian County. Local officials prepared exquisite dishes to please their superiors and invited the governor to book seats in person. Unexpectedly, Fang Guancheng wrote on the menu "Don't eat cream delicacies, eat Yuxian millet porridge". As a result, the Yuxian government specially selected high-quality millet from Taohua Town and invited a famous chef to cook small rice for the governor, which won Fang Guancheng's praise. Since then, "the governor loves millet porridge" has been passed down as a much-told story, and Yuxian millet has become famous. 1June, 935, Liu Ruming, then chairman of Chahar Province, came to Yuxian to inspect the 39th Army troops stationed in Yuxian. When Dong Chunkui, the head of the delegation, gave a banquet, he specially prepared Yuxian millet porridge for dinner, which was also greatly appreciated by Liu Ruming.
