After joining Toastmasters for 4 12 days, what have I gained?
Unconsciously, I have been a member of Toastmasters International for 13 months and a VPPR (Vice President of Public Relations) for 10 months. I decided to sort out the gains of these 4 12 days and call on all the officials to make a summary in order to motivate themselves, encourage others and contribute to the operation of the club.

First, know the first horse.

20 13 10 accidentally met the first horse. At that time, I had just graduated from college and my job was stable. I found myself lacking in communication and expression. At that time, I inexplicably attended the regular meeting of DGToastmasters, and learned about the ups and downs of the old member YS, the wisdom and charm of the founding president Sunny, the leadership art of the then president Victor, and the confidence and calmness of a member in the spotlight-all of which made me very introverted and fascinated.

However, I was too busy to join at once. I remember Sunny told me in the WeChat group: whether to speak or not is a matter of value ranking, and the ability to speak will one day limit the development of your young people. This sentence was buried in my heart like a seed and finally came true like a prophecy.

March 20 14, in a workplace, my public expression was a complete failure, and the seeds sown by Sunny broke through the ground and grew wildly. At that time, I decided: I must join Toastmasters, and I must completely change my destiny!

So, I made an appointment with Max, the then vice chairman and current president. On a rainy weekend, I drank a cup of boiled water in his cafe and joined the club. It was really stupid and naive at that time, and I didn't even drink a mouthful of coffee! )

We often say that the opportunity for change often lies in: enough pain or enough desire. And I joined Toastmasters because of the interweaving of pain and desire, which has to be said to be a kind of fate. Of course, the greater fate lies in "people." I have always appreciated Sunny's encouragement and admired Sunny's leadership temperament. Of course, every little friend knows each other. These are extremely valuable assets.

To paraphrase Steve Jobs, when you go back and connect those nodes of life with those noble people on the road, they will shine like a string of pearls, and their beauty is beyond measure.

Second, membership growth.

Over the past year, as a Toastmasters member, I have participated in 20+ regular meetings and 2 formal trainings, including 5 CC manual speeches, 10+ speeches and comments, and served as the general moderator for 2 times. The estimated effective time is about 1 200 minutes:

CC speech (5* 150)+ speech comment (3* 10)+ general manager (2* 140)+ formal training (2*200)≈ 1200min.

Through intensive speech training, I have made great progress in the following four aspects:

1, speech ability

For most people in China, speech is a terminal illness more terrible than death. I deeply remember an impromptu speech in June of 20 13, when my mind was at a loss and my limbs were weak. However, after a year's practice, I am basically qualified for impromptu speech at present, and sometimes I can even reach an excellent level.

This is mainly due to five speeches. Every time I prepare a speech, my preparation time is at least 150 minutes (write a manuscript one week in advance and practice it repeatedly in front of the mirror at home). When I am fully prepared, standing on the stage will naturally feel calm and confident. After repeated recognition and encouragement, I found myself doing CC5 more smoothly than doing CC 1, which shows that every CC is a transformation and leap.

What's the impact outside? With the help of Touma's training achievements, I gave a speech to more than 60 new employees of the company, won the first prize of the group in the company's speech contest, and served as the general planner and moderator in various lectures, conferences and activities (which was unimaginable before) ... After deliberate practice, Touma members can kill 80% of the people in the world at the level of speech, and at the same time seize valuable opportunities of self-marketing again and again.

2. Communication skills

Phonetics is one-to-many communication ability, and comments are one-to-one communication ability.

In Touma, the "3K principle" is deeply engraved in my bones. Every time I comment, I will effectively feed back the information to the audience through the "kiss-kick-kiss" rule.

Of course, this is a communication skill of emotional control, and thinking logic is also a communication skill, that is, how to observe, record and sort out the speaker's theme, main line, content, advantages and disadvantages in a few minutes, and organize effective language feedback, which is a very big challenge.

Human beings have always been "rational thinking+perceptual decision-making" animals, so you must balance the two when communicating, and over time, you will form a habit instinct.

How does this instinct affect my work and life? At work, with a sense of balance, you can freely cooperate with colleagues and communicate with your boss, and the so-called upward management gradually feels; In life, learning to recognize and encourage can greatly alleviate family conflicts and create a happy life.

The more experts there are, the simpler the trick is. The "3K principle" is such a great and simple trick. You practice 1000 times, and you are the top figure in this field!

3. Frame instinct

In addition to improving my ability, the first horse gave me a frame instinct about speech, communication and leadership.

I always think that the first horse is a wise horse, and every member will be endowed with endless wealth, among which the most precious is the knowledge structure, more accurately, the thinking framework and instinctive habits.

How to understand this instinctive power?

At work, thanks to the first horse's gift, I was absolutely forced to be an excellent meeting recorder. The bosses are all spitting, and the language is confusing, but I am definitely forced to grasp their core themes and logical order (of course, they also need to improve their communication skills, and sometimes they are really anxious! ), produce a meeting minutes of at least 95 points after the meeting. Of course, I'm not just a little secret who will attend the meeting. In the workplace, any business involving communication, speaking and logical thinking is the first choice ~ ~ boss, let me do these rough jobs! )

The same is true of various online and offline lecture activities. Every expert, professor and veteran with a shining title can be completely dismembered by an excellent member: first of all, most experts' speech level is really poor, their body language is not enough, and there are all kinds of rhetoric and nonsense in their speeches (no offense); Secondly, as far as the content of the speech is concerned, leaders can completely dismember it according to the golden pyramid principle, then find out the most critical information, rebuild a complete framework, and basically absorb the core essence of the speaker.

Shit! This is not a framework, instinct, this is completely a star-sucking solution! Everyone's core thoughts and fragments of thinking are just energy for the first centaur. I just suck and digest. There are no side effects at all, and it is resistant to me! Brilliant, so capricious! !

4, confident temperament

The improvement of ability and instinctive bullying finally bring me a temperament called self-confidence.

Growing up, I was not confident enough, even an introverted person. Before, my MBTI test result was always INTJ (introverted, expert type), but the recent test result surprised me, and the result was actually ENTJ (leader type). Of course, I don't think I have become a leader like Sunny, but this change shows to some extent that my personality is becoming outgoing, cheerful, confident and healthy.

Why is there such a change? As I expected, it completely changed the course of my life, because this kind of thing is constantly savage my personality.

Reading can be wise and writing can be cultivated, which is an inner cultivation; But only a speech can improve your personality, burst your energy, change your destiny, and let you write a big word "person"-this is self-confidence temperament!

Third, the growth of officials.

As the vice president of public relations, my job is to publicize Toastmasters' ideas, principles, rules and achievements, so that members and guests can know more about Touma, recognize Touma, join Touma and make contributions to Touma. During my nearly one-year tenure, I summed up the following four gains.

1, marketing promotion

Marketing is my own job (marketing category), which is my core competitiveness in competing for VPPR positions.

During his tenure, the club's WeChat group, QQ group, Douban, WeChat official account and other publicity channels have been set up, and the copywriting publicity of regular meetings and speech contests has become more and more demanding. The number of community members on WeChat and QQ has been increasing, with almost 40+ people attending every meeting. The brand exposure and brand influence of DGToastmasters are indeed increasing. (Unfortunately, I don't have specific data. )

The military medal is half mine and half belongs to all the members. The stable operation of the club and the strength of its members are the source of marketing promotion; The job of VPPR is to extract the wisdom of friends and let more people know, experience, participate and recognize them. What do we sell? Not product, not service, not value, but life experience)

Where is my harvest? Because of their own work and the status of the first horse, marketing and brand have become a logical framework and habitual instinct.

Management is not knowing but doing. Brand marketing is always an observation, understanding, transmission and penetration. The core of brand marketing is to spread you and your values and value creation all the time, so that more people can understand and accept it, and then occupy their minds and influence their actions.

Therefore, VPPR has given me the most precious wealth, that is, it has put me on the road of personal brand practice and instinct. People who build personal brands are not necessarily excellent market practitioners; People who have not established a personal brand are definitely not excellent market practitioners. You can't even sell yourself. What products and services do you sell? Only those who walk on this road will truly experience endless fun.

2. Organizational insight

Toastmasters is a great organization with a history of 9 1 year. It has 14560 clubs and 3 10000 members all over the world.

What is such a brilliant historical achievement? This is organizational design. The greatness of Toastmasters' organizational design lies in self-organization and self-management, and in the "free alliance of free people".

Based on the choice of values, members and officials never covet any material benefits, but are eager to grow, know how to contribute and know the precipitation of time. The training lecturers in the market are really awesome, but it is difficult to change after the audience gets cold. The greatness of the first horse is that it will clearly tell members that the speech is a long-term change process. Don't overestimate the accumulation of three months and don't underestimate the transformation of one year. As a result, all the short-term players were eliminated, and all the members were long-term players, who knew how to dive and practice, accumulated wealth and gained more truth.

Great organizations have "good people" and "good systems". Toastmasters 9 1 year system is absolutely perfect, including regular meeting system, official system, tutor system, DTM, MOT, global management and so on. This system is extremely loose, many members and officials will fall off from it, and many clubs will die out, but it is this mixed charging and out of control that has created a natural ecosystem with endless vitality, so the foundation will last forever.

Therefore, the greatest system is ecosystem, and the greatest management is inaction.

As a member and official, I have also gained a lot in community operation.

After 9 1 year's continuous optimization of the conference process, Touma is simply the standard answer to the operation of community activities. Take the president's corporate action as an example, their training process draws on many excellent experiences of Touma. Taking myself as an example, I recently planned and hosted the online activity of 1 and the offline salon of 1, and both achieved good results. These are all gifts that are beneficial to the first horse!

Step 4 lead others

Leadership should be a skill that all members can train, but because I am an official, I put it in this module specially.

The slogan of Toastmasters is where leaders are born, which is a great idea. Because the first horse aims to cultivate members' three abilities of speech, communication and leadership, but there is a logical relationship. The core element of this world is people. The ultimate significance of training our speaking and communication skills is to improve our leadership ability, so as to become masters of cooperation and motivation.

Unlike authoritative managers or leaders in enterprises, leaders in Touma are charismatic leaders with extended personality. Every speech is a leader, every comment is a leader, every meeting organization and every member collision and official discussion is a leader. Every moment, we are talking, communicating and leading others.

So, what is the core of a leader? Personal summary has three core points: responsibility, resource integration and inspiring others.

(1) The first core: responsibility.

What is the first core of leadership in this loose organization? The core lies in your dedication, dedication and responsibility.

A person who takes responsibility in an organization must be more persistent, more dedicated and certainly more rewarding than a person who silently exists in the organization.

The undertaker is the leader, and the leader gains not only knowledge and wisdom, but also the heartfelt respect and recognition of all people.

Whoever can move things is the leader!

(2) The second core: resource integration.

In Touma, the second core of leaders is resource integration, that is, organizational achievements are obtained by promoting others' achievements.

The core demand of each member is growth. If you don't assign him a job and give him responsibility, he won't grow up. This is a serious dereliction of duty of all members (especially officials). It is precisely because of the members' investment and commitment in time and energy that he feels more belonging. It is precisely because of the continuous improvement of members' ability and temperament that he has a sense of accomplishment.

All members are willing to contribute such valuable resources. Why don't leaders integrate them and let the whole club move forward quickly?

(3) The third core: inspiring others.

If you want to integrate resources, you must learn to motivate, that is, how to listen, understand and motivate, and promote action and change.

This is the ultimate source of charisma of leaders. At this time, speech skills, comment skills, communication skills, 3K principles and so on are revealed. You have learned to be fascinated, such as waving your arms.

We know that most business managers are not qualified leaders. They may be able to take responsibility and integrate resources, but they basically don't know how to listen, let alone how to motivate. Authoritarian management is just a low-level trick; Charming leaders are the real masters.

Imagine: What kind of experience would the leadership practice and experience gained in Touma be if it were put in an authoritative enterprise organization? It's a four-dimensional attack on three-dimensional!

Fourth, shortcomings.

The above is the harvest of this year, and then talk about the shortcomings, with a view to greater improvement in the future.

1, manual progress

Only five CCS are completed in one year, slow down. Brush manual should be the core obligation of members and officials. Next, it is planned to complete 5 CC every six months. It is best to organize a group to brush the manual and accelerate the promotion with the help of the community. I don't want to be the head horse of DTM. Not a good horse! )

2. Tutorial system

Frankly speaking, the level of tutorial system in Touma is uneven, and our club is not running well. Of course, there are historical reasons for this, but as an individual, I don't have much responsibility and guidance for my students. This needs to be strengthened and improved in the future.

3. Marketing system

This year, the VPPR work has improved, but it has not formed a systematic operation; At the same time, the VPPR team is poorly operated and lacks a VPPR cultural system. With the approach of transformation, I will pass on the experience of VPPR to my successor without reservation, hoping that the next one can establish a better marketing system and training system.

Step 4 extinguish

DGToastmasters needs to go out, on the one hand, organize more member activities (such as library lectures) in this city, on the other hand, see more wonderful SZ clubs and peak competitions. At this point, being a VPPR is dereliction of duty.

The two sentences I have appreciated recently are:

1, neither overestimate the change in one year nor underestimate the change in three years.

2, don't use brotherhood to pursue the same interests, but use the same interests to pursue brotherhood.

A head horse that doesn't aim at DTM is not a good head horse. I hope that in the next three years, we can walk on the road with more like-minded people and complete our life sublimation and personality transformation on the road of pursuing the supreme glory of Toastmasters!
