Before the Spring Festival, the farmers' market was unprecedentedly active, and there was an endless stream of people going to the market to do new year's goods. Years ago, the commodities in the trade market were dazzling and crowded, showing a prosperous scene of festivals. Agricultural and sideline products, all kinds of groceries, holiday gifts, everything is dazzling. The most striking things are all kinds of New Year pictures, door gods, fireworks and so on. In addition to food, use, play, sight-seeing, and holiday gifts, there are several items that are also indispensable for handling new year's goods. In the past, the kitchen god was invited to offer sacrifices to the kitchen stove on the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month, but now the custom of offering sacrifices to the kitchen stove has faded in most places. Inviting the kitchen god is actually buying a portrait of the kitchen god, but farmers are taboo about "buying" and say "please" to respect the kitchen god. Followed by New Year pictures, door gods and other items that must be used for the New Year.
Spring Festival custom: sweeping dust
"On the 24th of the twelfth lunar month, clean the house." The custom of sweeping dust in Yongxin has a long history. Every Spring Festival, every household should clean the furniture, dismantle and wash the bedding, and carry out a general cleaning activity, so that the windows are bright and clean and the furniture is fresh. Some people paint walls, doors and windows with white powder, which makes the indoor and outdoor look brand-new. This custom embodies the traditional virtues of Yongxin people who love cleanliness and stress hygiene.
Spring Festival custom: writing Spring Festival couplets
Before the founding of New China, fewer people studied. People write Spring Festival couplets and invite old villagers and educated people to write them. Most of the contents are "saying goodbye to the old and welcoming the new", "studying in farming", "making money into treasure", "good weather" and "peace in the four seasons". After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), the cultural level of the masses was improved through universal education. Spring Festival couplets are generally written by themselves, and the content has also been changed to praise the party and the new society, such as "turning over and not forgetting the party, thanking Chairman Mao for his happiness"; "If socialism is good, the people are a family". During the Cultural Revolution, "Left" political slogans were also used as couplets. After the reform and opening up, Spring Festival couplets mostly reflect the people's support for the party's policies and the joy of getting rich through labor.
