"Six Studies and Two Libraries" is the most famous official education system in the Tang Dynasty, which consists of six studies (Guo Zi, imperial academy, four schools, law, calligraphy and arithmetic) and two libraries (Hong Wen Pavilion and Chongwen Pavilion). "Six Studies" mainly refers to junior colleges, in which the first three studies (Guo Zi Xue, imperial academy Xue and Si Shu Xue) study Confucian classics, while the last three studies (law, calligraphy and arithmetic) are specialized. In the "Second Pavilion", the Hong Wen Pavilion is the place where aristocratic children study, while the Chongwen Pavilion is mainly the place where the royal family and aristocratic children study.
"Six Studies and One Museum" is another official educational institution, including the He Wenguang Museum of Six Studies (Guo Zi Xue, imperial academy, Four Studies, Metaphysics, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism). Among them, "six studies" refers to a junior college, while Wenguang Museum is a school for children of civilians, which is also the biggest difference between "six studies and one museum" and "six studies and two museums".
Generally speaking, "six schools and two libraries" and "six schools and one library" are different in education system and audience, but they are both important parts of the official education system in Tang Dynasty.
