Brief introduction of huancui district
Huancui District is the seat of Weihai Municipal Government, the central city of Weihai, and the political, economic, cultural and scientific center of Weihai. Huancui District is located in the easternmost part of Shandong Peninsula, surrounded by the sea on three sides, and facing the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese archipelago across the sea in the east. It is the closest city in a straight line between China and South Korea. 1 There are three national development zones in the construction area of Huancui District: Economic and Technological Development Zone, High-tech Industrial Development Zone and Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone. Huancui District is the first "national health city", the first "national environmental protection model city group" and the first "national excellent tourist city group" in China. It was twice rated as "the best example city in the world to improve human habitation" by the United Nations, won the "Habitat Award" by the United Nations in 2003, and was rated as the favorite tourist destination of China for European tourists in 2005. In 2006, all six towns under the jurisdiction of Huancui District were rated as "national towns with beautiful environment".
