Mathematical master Chen Shengshen.

Chen Shengshen, born on October 28, 1911 in Xiushui County, Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, is a Chinese-American mathematics master and a great geometer in the 20th century. [1]

In 1926, Chen Shengshen entered the Department of Mathematics of Nankai University. In the summer of 1934, he graduated from the Graduate School of Tsinghua University with a master's degree, becoming the first mathematics graduate student trained by China. In 1943, he published "A Simple Implicit Proof of the Gauss-Bonnet Formula for Closed Riemannian Manifolds" and "Demonstrative Classes of Hermitian Manifolds". From 1963 to 1964, Chern served as vice president of the American Mathematical Society. In 1995, Chen Shengshen was elected as the first batch of foreign academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1999, he was appointed as the first honorary dean of Jiaxing University. [2]

At 19:14 on December 3, 2004, Chen Shengshen passed away at the Tianjin Medical University General Hospital at the age of 93.
