Introduction to Yang Tinghe
Yang Tinghe, courtesy name Jiefu and Shizhai, was born in Xindu, Chengdu Prefecture, Sichuan (now Xindu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province), and his ancestral home is Luling (now Jiangxi Ji'an City, Province). A political reformer in the mid-Ming Dynasty and the father of scholar Yang Shen.
Yang Tinghe became famous at a young age. He passed the provincial examination when he was twelve years old. In the fourteenth year of Chenghua (1478), when he was nineteen years old, he was a Jinshi and was awarded the Imperial Examination. During the reign of Emperor Xiaozong of the Ming Dynasty, he gave lectures to the Crown Prince Zhu Houzhao (Wuzong of the Ming Dynasty). In the second year of Zhengde (1507), he became a bachelor of Dongge University and received a special imperial edict. After Liu Jin, the powerful eunuch, was executed, he became the young master, the crown prince, and the grand master of Jinshen Palace.
