This is a short poem about the journey, written in the spring of 809 (Yuan and four years). At this time, the poet served as the guest secretary of the prince in Luoyang. Weiwangdi refers to a section of dam where Luoshui flows through Luoyang, which was a great scenic spot at that time. Because it was given to Wang Wei Terrace as a garden, it was called Wei Wangdi. Generally speaking, the spring with birds and flowers is the most charming and poetic. But this little poem is not about such a festival, but when the cold spring has not retreated and the beautiful scenery has not yet appeared. Because of this, the artistic conception expressed in this little poem is unique. The first two sentences of the poem: "Flowers are cold and lazy, birds are careless, and horses will travel westward." Write that winter has gone and spring has come, but spring is still chilly. The bustling scene of spring flowers and warblers singing and whispering is far from appearing. Seeing no spring scenery to stop and watch, the poet had to wander on the long embankment and kill time rather helplessly. But spring cannot disappear without a trace. The careful and sensitive poet suddenly found the sign that spring had arrived, that is, the weak willows on both sides of the long embankment were gently brushed, bringing a touch of spring to the world. Judging from the whole poem, this little poem can be said to be a poem of seeking spring; Before the arrival of spring, the poet had moved to Weiwangdi to find spring and spring.
