According to legend, Confucius had 3, students, of whom 72 were the most famous, and Yan Hui was Confucius' most proud pupil.
Yan Hui's every move was to Confucius' liking. Therefore, Confucius often used the case of Yan Hui to educate other students.
Yan Hui, with a deep word, is also called Yan Yuan.
once, Confucius said to his students, "You are good, come back! One scoop of food, one scoop of drink, in the mean lane, people can't bear their worries, and they don't change their fun when they go back. Xian zai, come back! " Meaning: Yan Hui, a true sage! He lives in a lonely lane and leads an extremely hard life. The utensils he uses for eating are bamboo baskets, and the utensils he uses for scooping water are wooden scoops. It would be unbearable if it fell on someone else's head, but Yan Hui always felt satisfied and happy. Yan Hui is really a very virtuous person!
Confucius greatly admired Yan Hui's virtue. However, what kind of character is this? Kong Anguo said, this is "content with poverty and happy with Tao".
On another occasion, Lu Aigong asked Confucius, "Who is the best student among your more than 3, students?" Confucius said; "Only Yan Hui is the best to learn. If he doesn't get angry, he won't stop. Unfortunately, he will die soon! " Meaning, Yan Hui loves learning. When he is angry, he can follow suit and never shift to other things; If you make a mistake, correct it and never repeat it.
Yan Hui was 29 years old and his hair was all white. He died at the age of 32. Confucius felt very sad for his short life.
The idioms "Be happy when you are poor", "Take a ladle in a mean alley", "Take a ladybug drink", "Take a ladybug in vain" and "Take it out on others" all come from this story.
It means: strengthen your belief in life and take life with ease.

Si Mahui Anpin Music Road
Pang Shiyuan of Nanjun heard that Sima De Cao was in Yingchuan, so he waited for him for 2, miles. At last, when De Cao picked mulberry, Shiyuan said from the car, "I heard that my husband should take gold and purple with him, so how can he handle silk women?" De Cao said, Zi and get off the bus. The child knows the speed of evil path, and does not worry about the lost path. Yesterday, Bo became a coupling farmer and did not admire the glory of the princes; Yuan Xian Sangshu is not easy to have an official residence. Why do you sit in a luxurious house, walk in a fat horse, and have dozens of maids, and then wonder? This is why Xu and his father are so generous, and why Yi and Qi sigh. Although you have stolen the title of Qin, you are rich, but not expensive. Shiyuan said: I am born with a drooping edge, and I am ignorant of the righteousness. If I don't knock the bell and cut the thunder drum, I won't know its sound!
Translation:
Pang Shiyuan (Pang Tong) of Nanjun heard that Sima Decao (Si Mahui) was in Yingchuan, and came to visit him from two thousand miles away. When I got there, I met Sima De picking mulberry leaves. Pang Shiyuan said to him in the car, "I heard that a gentleman should bring a gold seal and a purple ribbon, so how can he be a coward and do what these women do!" De Cao said, "Get off first. You only know that it is convenient to take a shortcut, but you don't consider the danger of getting lost. In the past, Bocheng would rather farm than envy the splendor of the princes; Yuan Xian sang-shu's funeral home is not like being an official. How can anyone who lives in a gorgeous house, rides a burly horse and is surrounded by dozens of maids, make great achievements? This is why Xu You and Chao Fu made generous concessions, while Boyi and Shu Qi lamented the country's demise and starved to death in shouyangshan. Even if Lv Buwei steals a high official like Xiangguo, Qi Jinggong's wealth of 4, horses is not precious. " Pang Shiyuan said, "I was born on the edge, and I didn't hear any profound truth. If I hadn't knocked on Hong Zhong and thunderdrums myself, I wouldn't have known their roar."
