Xiju is a local traditional drama popular in Shanghai-Nanjing, Hangjiahu and urban and rural areas in southern Anhui, and it is one of the national intangible cultural heritages. Tin Opera, formerly known as Tanquan, originated from Dongxiang Tune, a narrative folk song in Wuxi and Changzhou during Qianlong and Jiaqing years in Qing Dynasty. Around the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Dongxiang tune blended with Taoist sentiment, sang Haruka and announced scrolls, and gradually developed into a beach spring in the form of Quyi. Tin opera is mainly singing, with elegant and lyrical tunes and strong flavor of life, which has the unique charm of Jiangnan water town and provides rich resources for studying Jiangnan local culture.
On June 7th, 2008, with the approval of the State Council, People's Republic of China (PRC), tin opera was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list, numbered Ⅳ-103. 20 19, 1 1, the list of national intangible cultural heritage representative project protection units was announced, and Jiangsu Changzhou Tin Theatre, Jiangsu Performing Arts Group Co., Ltd. and Wuxi Tin Theatre Co., Ltd. obtained the qualification of tin drama project protection units.
Inheritance and protection
Driven by economic interests, few people specialize in drama script creation, and most of them turn to TV drama creation, which has also become an important factor restricting the development of the troupe. There are few young backup actors. It takes at least ten years for an actor to study tin opera performance at school and become the main actor on the stage. Many young actors can't bear to change careers halfway, which leads to the instability of the tin troupe and no successors.
Jiangsu Performing Arts Group has collected, sorted out, archived and published relevant materials and representative plays of the older generation of artists, increased investment in new drama creation and new talent training, and strengthened publicity in various ways. Changzhou comprehensively collected and arranged information, published a book "Changzhou Tin Opera Art", produced a famous feature film of tin opera, and established the Changzhou Tin Opera Art Museum.
Wuxi listed tin drama as a key protection project, invested in the construction of a tin drama museum, held weekly exhibitions of tin drama, produced a TV feature film "Hundred Years of Tin Drama", and incorporated tin drama into local primary and secondary school textbooks, digitally and permanently preserved the materials for use by museums.
