Mr. education plot:
Born in the late Qing Dynasty (1August 883), the country declined and imperialism bullied it wantonly. Facing the broken country, he deeply felt the crisis of his motherland. When he went to study in Japan, he resolutely gave up his father's choice of engineering. Considering that China's "industry is slow and urgent, it is better to join the army and serve the country in the future." Shortly after arriving in Japan, he engraved the words "Master Donghua" on a crystal seal. In the summer of 1905, he wrote a poem "My Journey" to express his grand ambition:
Don't cry for help from heaven, sweep away anger and crazy songs;
Strong-hearted, hard-working and ugly people, ranking the old water in the old mountain of Huangzhu;
Defining the common cause, the situation in Europe and Asia is too flat.
In Huize's notes, Tang's heart is even more exposed. "In the Sino-Japanese War and the Battle of Gengzi, our nation was slaughtered by other nations; Since the Russo-Japanese War, the elders in Northeast China have been ravaged by it. They are all my fathers, brothers and children. If this hatred is not over, then I won't forgive my crime. I was born in the sky, so I would rather not? " "If you don't make China rich and strong quickly, you will surpass Europe and the United States and overlook the great powers, and you will become a man of China in the 20th century in vain. How can you live as if you were dead? " Worried about the country and the people, strong national plot and lofty ambition made him join the League in the autumn of 1905, determined to overthrow the decadent Manchu government, recover and revitalize China, and then realize his grand ideal of "the master of the Eastern continent".
Mr. Wang's reasons for running a school:
In his speech at the opening ceremony of Donglu University 1923, Tang stated the reasons for establishing the school:
First, the country is unfortunate and chaotic. It has defended various services several times, made military achievements, and called for "justice" and "humanity" in order to correct people's minds, govern the country and calm down chaos, but the results are not very happy. Therefore, I am surprised by the corruption in this country. Because there is no outstanding talent to struggle, justice is stretched for no reason, and the rule of man is developed for no reason. After eight years in exile, it is urgent to cultivate talents after the closure.
Second, the European war was defeated, ideological trends flourished, and wisdom was fully expounded. Different places have different environments and different viewpoints. What is suitable for this may not be suitable for that. Although there are many research results, the ability to draw materials is extremely weak, and the old culture is carried forward unreasonably. Those who intend to absorb the new culture with the inherent cultural spirit and form a compromise suitable for the national conditions must seek to establish the highest institution of study.
Third, after the abolition of the Governor, people-run politics such as industry, education and transportation and all ordinary politics can only be beneficial if professionals are needed. This kind of specialized talents, universities are even more indispensable.
Fourth, there is no comparable school in this province for further study. For example, after graduating from middle school, most of them drop out of school and want to go abroad for further study, and they encounter various obstacles such as transportation and economy. It is quite convenient to run this university today, and talents are easy to come out.
Mr. Wang's school-running philosophy:
Tang believes that universities should be open to the world, not only to Yunnan Province and Asia, but also to the world. Only in this way can we really pursue academic research. He believes that "Donglu University is an East Asian University, not a Yunnan University." "The cultural mission of the establishment of Donglu University is not limited to one province in Yunnan, and it will further seek the balance and upward of the cultures of the southwestern provinces, thus competing with the Central Plains and Europe and the United States." In his view, the essence of education lies in moral education. Only when moral education is done well can educational research be done well, which is the real talent. "Even the best education is useless if our hearts are not purified." To do this, students are not the only ones. "Professors are not only academic, but also should pay attention to cultivating students' spirit." With the publication of Journal of Donglu School in 1923, Tang once again emphasized the importance of running a school. He believes that people studying in universities should emphasize "seeking truth from facts and avoiding false voices", and at the same time once again express their desire for a grand and prosperous education. "I hope our school will carry forward its efforts, hone its spirit and achieve something, Do not forget your initiative mind. "
