Because "Shangshu" is a compilation of works tracing ancient deeds.

"Shangshu", also known as "Book" and "Shu Jing", is my country's first collection of ancient historical documents and some works tracing ancient deeds. "Shang Shu" is divided into "Yu Shu", "Xia Shu", "Shang Shu" and "Zhou Shu". During the Warring States period, it was generally called "Shu", and in the Han Dynasty it was renamed "Shangshu", which is the "book of ancient times". Because it is one of the Five Classics of Confucianism, it is also called the Book of Books.

Status:

"Shangshu", while being a historical classic, has always been called China's earliest collection of prose by literary historians. It is a stylistic category alongside "The Book of Songs" . However, according to ancient standards, most of these prose should belong to the official documents of the government dealing with national affairs at that time. To be precise, it should be a collection of official documents with a relatively complete style.

As far as literature is concerned, "Shang Shu" is a symbol of the formation of ancient Chinese prose. The narration of pre-Qin prose should begin with Shangshu. The structure of the articles in the book is gradually becoming more complete and has a certain level. Attention has been paid to the chapter on destiny and planning. Later, the rise of prose in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period was its inheritance and development.
