"Historical Records" contradicts itself, and there are hidden mysteries

"Historical Records. Biography of Lu Buwei" records:

Lü Buwei took the Handan concubines and was very good at dancing. Those who live with each other know that they have a body. Zichu never drank from Wei, but when he saw it, he said it, because he wanted to live long, so he asked for it. Lu Buwei was angry, thinking that Ye had broken up his family and became Zi Chu. He wanted to catch a strange woman, so he sacrificed his concubine. Ji concealed her pregnancy, and when she was in her third trimester, she gave birth to a son named Zheng. Zichu then made Ji his wife.

What does it mean? It is said that Lu Buwei had a singer who lived with Lu Buwei and became pregnant. Zichu (Ying Yiren) and Lu Buwei liked Zhao Ji very much after seeing her while drinking. So Lu Buwei gave Zhao Ji to Ying Yiren, and later gave birth to Ying Zheng.

This paragraph shows that Ying Zheng is Lu Buwei’s son.

However, if you read "Historical Records" carefully, you will find that there are still mysteries. "Historical Records of the First Emperor of Qin" records:

The First Emperor of Qin was Prince Zhuangxiang of Qin. King Zhuang Xiang was the hostage of Qin in Zhao. When he saw Concubine Lu Buwei, he took her and gave birth to the first emperor.

The same scene is described, but after Ying Yi and the singer Lu Buwei fell in love, they gave birth to the First Emperor, and there was nothing about Lu Buwei in it. I think Sima Qian was a rigorous person, so why did he contradict himself?

Later generations highly recognized "Historical Records", and Sima Qian was indeed rigorous in his scholarship. Therefore, later generations mostly used "Historical Records" as a reference for the history of Qin and Han Dynasties.

"Han Shu" Ban Gu said that "Ying Zheng is Lu Buwei's illegitimate son" and should be called Lu Zheng. Sima Guang of the Song Dynasty also said that Ying Zheng was an illegitimate son in his "Quizi Tongjian", but the "Warring States Policy" which was earlier than "Historical Records" did not mention it at all.

In the Ming Dynasty, Tang Pinyin responded to the theory that "Qin Shihuang was Lu Buwei's illegitimate son" and proposed that "those who did good deeds during the Warring States Period did so."

Qing Dynasty scholar Liang Yusheng also raised objections.

Whose child is Ying Zheng?

There is only one truth. Ying Zheng is the son of Ying Yiren, with pure blood.

First of all, let’s talk about pregnancy. In ancient times, pregnancy was generally discovered after one to two months, when a woman had pregnancy symptoms and did not have menstruation.

Seeing Ying Yiren marrying a pregnant woman, did no one stop him? Aren’t you afraid that outsiders will steal the winner’s territory?

The facts show that no one stopped him, which means that the brothers have no objection to Ying Yiren’s child. This shows that there is really nothing wrong with this child.

Thirdly, let’s talk about why the "Historical Records" contradicts itself and why the Han Dynasty people said that Ying Zheng was an illegitimate son.

All dynasties hope that the establishment of their dynasty is justified, so many dynasties have learned a trick called "smearing the previous dynasty" and accepting themselves.

From the time Qin Shihuang established the Qin Dynasty, the descendants of the six countries all hoped that Qin Shihuang was an illegitimate son. Only in this way would Qin Shihuang's position as emperor be "illegal". After the establishment of the Han Dynasty, they also hoped that the Qin Dynasty would be illegitimate. The problem is, only in this way can people psychologically accept themselves to the greatest extent.

From this point of view, Ying Zheng was said to be Lu Buwei's son by the Han Dynasty officials for a purpose.

Taken together, Qin Shihuang is the son of Ying Yiren. This is undisputed. "Say he is an illegitimate son" is just the wishful thinking of later dynasties and enemies.
