(1) Dancing after hearing the chicken
Zu Ti of the Jin Dynasty was a man with an open mind and lofty ambitions. But when he was a child, he was a naughty child who didn't like going to school. When he entered his youth, he realized his lack of knowledge and felt that he could not serve the country without studying, so he started reading vigorously. He read a large number of books extensively, studied historical knowledge seriously, learned a wealth of knowledge from it, and made great progress in his knowledge. He had been in and out of Kyoto and Luoyang several times. People who had come into contact with him said that he was a talented person who could assist the emperor in governing the country. When Zu Ti was 24 years old, someone recommended him to become an official. Instead of agreeing, he studied harder.
Later, Zu Ti and his childhood friend Liu Kun served as the chief registrar of Sizhou. He and Liu Kun had a deep relationship. Not only did they often sleep in the same bed and quilt, they also had the same lofty ideals: to make contributions, revive the Jin Dynasty, and become the pillars of the country.
Once, Zu Ti heard the crow of a rooster in his sleep in the middle of the night. After he woke up Liu Kun, he said to him: "Other people think that hearing a rooster crow in the middle of the night is unlucky, but I don't think so." I think, how about we just get up and practice swordplay when the rooster crows?" Liu Kun readily agreed. (2) Yu Gong Moves the Mountains
It is said that there lived an old man in his nineties named Yu Gong in Beishan.
There were two big mountains, Taihang and Wangwu, in front of his house. It was very inconvenient to get in and out, so Yu Gong discussed with his family members to dig up these two mountains.
Yu Gong’s wife asked: “Where should we put the rocks and soil on the mountain?” Yu Gong and his sons did not care about this, and just did what they said, and transported the excavated soil and stones. Go to the Bohai Sea, which is very far away, and come back only once a year.
There was an old man named Zhisou in Hequ who advised Yu Gong not to be stupid. How could he dig a flat mountain at such an old age? Yu Gong said: "If I die, I will still have a son. If my son dies, I will still have a grandson. If I continue to work for generations, there will be no uneven mountain."
Yu Gong mobilized the whole family. The Jade Emperor was moved by his power, and the Jade Emperor sent Hercules to move the mountains.
Old and weak, the personnel are few, the tools are crude, and the distance to transport soil is so great that it seems "unfathomable" on the surface. But Yu Gong was not intimidated by the difficulties in front of him because he had lofty ambitions. It can be seen from "pointing to the south of Henan and reaching Hanyin" that his move of mountains was to benefit thousands of people and future generations. . In addition, his confidence in moving mountains comes from his correct understanding of the relationship between man and nature. He understands that human power is "infinite" and "the mountains will not increase." His knowledge is far higher than that of ordinary people, and he is really "wise but foolish". Chisu only looks at the problem from a static perspective, believing that natural conditions cannot be changed, and only sees the power of one generation, thus concluding that humans are powerless in the face of nature, which is really "short-sighted." The above analysis shows that fools are not stupid and wise people are not wise. This reversal not only accentuates the contrasting tones but also has an ironic effect.
