Sir Arthur Charles Clarke (19 17-2008) is a famous science fiction writer, popular science writer, scientist and founder of international communication satellite in Britain and Sri Lanka. Arthur clarke19171216 was born in Mainhead, Somerset, western England. When he was young, he liked to look up at the stars and read old American science fiction magazines. After graduating from middle school and Huish grammar school, he found a job as an auditor in the pension department of the school board because he couldn't afford the university fees.

Clark's most famous sci-fi work is 200 1 A Space Odyssey. This book was made into a movie of the same name by director stanley kubrick in 1968, and became a classic of science fiction movies.

Clark died in Sri Lanka on March 9, 2008 at the age of 90. Before his death, he had just finished proofreading his last book, The Last Theorem, which was scheduled to be published in 2008. He published his obituary in New Scientist magazine: "Sir Arthur Clark died, and we lost the last visionary and most eloquent dreamer before the space age."
