Parents are dignified and kind, and children are timid and filial. -"Yan Jiaxun"

This sentence, Yan Zhitui's adopted son, is actually a warning to himself.

Parents should not spoil their children too much or scold them too much. Parents should have dignity in front of their children and care about them.

Property is a thing apart from your body. Even if you have accumulated thousands of dollars in Qian Qian, it is not worth reading.

Zhao Heng of Song Zhenzong once wrote "Encourage Learning" and "There is a golden room in the book and Yan Ruyu in the book", aiming at encouraging scholars all over the world to study hard and win fame.

In modern times, Yan Huiqing recalled his father Yan Yongjing and said, "Although my father didn't leave us children a legacy, he paid more attention to and invested in our children's education than his family wealth."

People who study when they are young are like the rising sun in the morning, full of vigor; people who start to study when they are old are like walking in the night with candles in their hands, but they are better than those who can't see anything with their eyes closed.

Just like the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, "I heard the Tao and died in the evening", which encouraged people to study regardless of age. Yan Zhitui took this as a warning to future generations. Even if you miss the best learning opportunity, it's not too late to make up for it.

Yan Zhitui once told his descendants a story:

A knowledgeable man went to the market and bought a donkey. He talked with the seller for a long time, but he didn't say anything about the donkey. He wrote in a hurry, writing three pages, but there was not a word donkey.
