From the Analects of Confucius·Yao Yue Chapter 20, the whole sentence is "Killing without teaching is called cruelty. Failure to discipline is called violence. Being slow to order is called a thief. Still and People are also called stingy as cashiers. "It means: "Killing without instruction is called cruelty; asking for success without warning is called violence; asking for a sudden deadline without supervision is called a thief. The same is true for giving people money and property, but taking action. Being stingy is called stinginess."
Yao said: "Your Majesty, the fate of heaven is with you, and you will be in poverty all over the world."
Shun also ordered Yu.
Said: "I dare to use Xuanmu on my shoes, and I dare to tell the emperor and the emperor: I am guilty and dare not pardon. The emperor and his ministers do not conceal it, and it is simple in the emperor's heart. I am guilty, and there is no way to find out." Everyone is guilty, but I am guilty.”
There is great wealth in Zhou Dynasty, and good people are rich. "Although there are relatives in the Zhou Dynasty, they are not as good as benevolent people. If the common people have their faults, it is only for one person."
Be cautious in measuring power, review the laws, repair and abolish officials, and the government of the four directions will be carried out. Prosper and destroy the country, continue the peerless world, raise the people at ease, and the people of the world will return to their hearts. What matters most: people, food, funerals, and sacrifices. If you are tolerant, you will win people, if you are trustworthy, you will be trusted by the people, if you are sensitive, you will be successful, and if you are fair, you will be honest.
Zizhang asked Confucius: "How can one engage in politics?"
Confucius said: "If one respects the five beauties and suppresses the four evils, one can engage in politics."
>Zi Zhang said: "What are the five virtues?"
Confucius said: "A gentleman benefits without any expense, works without resentment, desires without greed, is peaceful without being arrogant, and is powerful without being fierce. ”
Zi Zhang said: “What does it mean to benefit the people without any expense?” If you work hard, who will blame you? How can you be greedy if you want to be kind? No one is small or big, and you don't dare to be arrogant? It seems that people look at it and fear it. Isn’t this powerful but not fierce?”
Zi Zhang said: “What are the four evils?”
Confucius said: “Not teaching? Killing is called cruelty. Failure to follow orders is called violence. Just like dealing with others, being stingy is called being responsible."
Confucius said: "If you don't know your destiny, you have no authority. Think of yourself as a gentleman. If you don't know etiquette, you can't stand up. If you don't know how to speak, you can't understand others.
