The reason why people have reincarnation is because "lust has not been removed." We live in the womb mostly because our parents have sex and we have love. The Shurangama Sutra says: "If you don't get rid of it, the dust will not come out." Dust refers to the three realms. Monks must jump out of the three realms, not the fifth, so they must abstain from color.
