The flat sand is covered with a layer of white frost and snow under the moonlight. On the rolling ridges of Yanshan Mountain, a bright moon looms in the sky, like a curved hook.

When will the emperor appreciate me and put a gold bridle on my horse, so that I can gallop on the autumn battlefield and make contributions?

"Horse Poems No. 5" by Li He of the Tang Dynasty

The sand in the desert is like snow, and the moon in Yanshan Mountain is like a hook.

How can I be a golden person and walk quickly through the autumn.

Extended information:

The beginning of the whole poem is very impressive. First, I will write about the landscape that fills my field of vision. It is an endless stretch of sand, shining white in the sun, like winter snow. The hot landscape and the cold landscape are merged by the imagination. Then write about the continuous Yanshan Mountains and the crescent moon like a hook.

The first and second sentences are dualistic: the desert - Yanshan Mountain, the sand is like snow - the moon is like a hook. In terms of time, it changes from day to night, and in terms of scenery, it expands from the ground to the horizon. In just ten words, I can express the concrete and tangible vastness of the world.

The second half of the poem is often interpreted by later generations as the author expressing his melancholy mood. It is about the horse thinking about wearing a gold bridle (a horse bridle decorated with gold). Running in the cool and comfortable atmosphere of autumn. The word "step" is used very cleverly. It is not only the usual action of a galloping horse, but also has the pride of trampling autumn under its feet.

However, this is an obvious mentality of a person who wants to be rich and prominent. How can a real horse care about a golden bridle and trampling on autumn under its feet? The former weighs heavily on my head and makes me tired just thinking about it; the latter has nothing to do with the horse's values.
