The meaning of Zhuangzi’s words is: inner peace will lead to tranquility, tranquility will lead to clarity, clarity will lead to emptiness, and emptiness will lead to being comfortable and adaptable to doing nothing and doing everything.
Zhuangzi said this in the chapter "Geng Sangchu":
Things that clear the will can resolve the errors in the mind, remove the burden of virtue, and reach the blockage of the Tao. Those who are noble, wealthy, dignified, fame and fortune are ambitious. Those who move color, reason, energy, and mind are the wrong minds. Those who have evil desires, joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure are tired of virtue. If you go and get the six, you will be blocking the road. These four and six are not swaying. The mind is upright, upright is quiet, quiet is bright, bright is empty, and empty is inactive.
Various utilitarian desires bind the human mind. If such restraints are removed, the mind will be undisturbed and in a peaceful state. When the mind is peaceful, it will be quiet, and if it is quiet, it will be clear and clear. If you are thorough, you can be ethereal, and if you are ethereal, you can "do nothing and do nothing". The so-called "doing nothing without doing anything" is "wandering", which means that the subject's psychology moves from stillness to a state of high freedom. This state exists in all aesthetic experiences. Lu Ji and Liu Xie used the ideas of "empty tranquility" and "wandering" to describe artistic conception. Lu Ji said: "At the beginning, everyone watched the TV and listened to it, thinking about the news, thinking about the eight extremes, and the mind wandered for thousands of miles. The end of it is that the eyes of love are hazy and vivid, and things are clear and mutually advanced... Looking at the past and the present in just a moment , Touching the world in an instant. "Liu Xie said: "The thought of writing is far away. Therefore, it can be thought of for thousands of years; it can be seen thousands of miles away." Entering a state of silence, the mind of the creative subject will gain full freedom, and all aesthetic psychological mechanisms can become active. "The spirit reaches the eight extremes, the mind travels thousands of miles", the imagination is soaring. "Thinking for thousands of years", "seeing for thousands of miles", perception and thinking are fully mobilized.
