2. Chongqing Medical University is governed by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China and the National Health and Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China. Established by the committee and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government, it has been selected into the National Basic Capacity Building Project for Central and Western Universities and the Outstanding Doctor Education and Training Program. It is a Chinese Government Scholarship College, a Demonstration Base for Studying in China and a "211" College for Studying in China, and a national One of the fourteen universities in the western region that focuses on supporting the construction.

3. Chongqing Medical University was founded in 1956 when Shanghai First Medical College (Fudan University Shanghai Medical College) was relocated to Chongqing. It was originally named Chongqing Medical College and was renamed Chongqing Medical University in 1985. . The school is one of the first units approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to confer doctoral and master's degrees. In 2008, the "Ministry-City Strategic Cooperation Agreement" between the Ministry of Education and Chongqing Municipality identified the school as a key university.
